XBox or PS3

I, too, hate paying 60 bucks a year to have the privlege of getting called "fag," "noob," and "cocksucker" by 10-year-olds.

A sad reality of online gaming wherever you play it. I did "lol" whilst reading though, because this is such a common occurrence.

When I'm online, I'm usually in party chat with the folks I'm gaming with. Other times, I just don't turn on my mic tune errbody out.

I just never use the headset. If I'm playing with friends, we use Skype to talk; if I'm not, I don't want to hear what those idiots are saying.

I have a ps3, and I went that route because I was worried about the Xbox360 reliability and the paying for online games thing.

I know I'm the exception, buy my PS3 is a buggy piece of shit that freezes all the time. My 360 has never RROD'd out.

what more needs to be said?

Well, except that GT5 seems to have caused a shitstorm since being released. Seems like they took far too long to make a half-finished game.

I've been waiting for it for ages, but now I'm not sure I want to bother. I think I'll just stick with Forza 3 until they do some serious updating.

Well you really just pay one flat fee to play any of your games online with xbox. $60 a year for the gold service gets you online play for any of your games that support online play. You don't pay $60 for online per game. You probably know, but I'm afraid some folks would read what you typed the wrong way

What I would add is that way more people I know with the XBox have had it die on them than the PS3.

I don't own either (Wii & PS2 at the DD clan headquarters) so I have no real opinion either way....

ps3 here.

several pals who've had a 360 kick the bucket on them.

but I'm a big fan of God of War...that was a big factor in my choice.
for online, when I do play, it's Red Dead Redemption (killer game!) and Little Big Planet, which is rather addictive, and fun as hell.
we have a small crew together for LBP, with mics, and it's pretty funny.
since we know each other, the abuse is more tolerable:wink:

but I don't do a whole lot of online play these days.
never really did, actually.
(not since Jedi Outcast on the pc)

and I sure as [BLINK]fuck[/BLINK] wouldn't pay extra for it.
if Sony ever goes that route, I'll simply quit the online stuff.
no skin off my ass.

You certainly ARE the exception, Andy. I'm on my 3rd xbox. Which is sad in a couple of ways.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with my PS3. The constant updates get a bit irritating, but at the same time, I've never had any problems so I can't really complain.

My 360 hasn't given me any great dramas either (had it for I think 3 or 4 years), but it has randomly frozen up on me a few times, once just the other day.

360 is the old one, PS3 is the newer slimline style one. Have never had the 360 online coz wiring it in our house would be a pain in the arse, and I'm not paying for one of those stupid proprietary wireless add-ons. From memory the new slim ones have wireless built in though, so I guess that's a non-issue these days. The PS3 is connected by the built in wireless. Have never checked out the online content with the 360, but I've got a few prett sweet cheap games off the PSN. :thu:

How do you turn the speech from other online gamers off on the PS3? I don't even own a headset yet I hear garbled speech constantly in games. It's not that I don't want to be called a fucking noob by some nerdy douche, it's that the speech is so distorted and muffled it just sounds like ass every time somebody talks... it's annoying.

I went with the Xbox 360.

Personally I'd rather have the PS3. The kids have wanted an Xbox for a long time. Even though I sold them out of an Xbox and convinced them to go with a PS3 - it's really about the kids isn't it?

I'll know I'll regret it when I see the red ring of death.......

Newer consoles aren't having RROD issues thus far, so you should be good.

Get a gold membership frmo eBay and it's much cheaper plus the guys usually e-mail the code through. I was up and running within 5 minutes of winning the auction this year :thu:
