Wrinkle #247864 in the Gibson saga

So you don’t need to activate them in some way? They just tune whenever?

Please say this isn’t true.
From what I can tell it just keeps you in tune...all the time. Or at least that's the idea. There's got to be a way to turn it off though. You would occasionally get weird pitch shifting and in a big bend it would probably freak out and explode. I don't know enough about them and have no first hand knowledge but every demo I've seen or heard about has led me to believe they are always on.

Wow, that seems like a terrible idea.

Think the later versions of those tuner thingies can be turned off when you don't want them to self-tune. Otherwise, playing would be a bit...awkward.

Just one more clang of the bell that tolls for Gibson and GC.

I read an article last week about GC miraculously securing a short term financing deal to keep them out of default, but that it was unlikely to do more than delay the inevitable for a few months. The article also mentioned Gibson's deep financial hole and pending BK while stating that both companies were so interwined that they are effectively killing each other/committing joint suicide.

The times they are a changin'

I think this is the article about Guitar Center on the edge of bankruptcy. Apparently Guitar Center is still in the hole for a billion dollars and just limping along from one renegotiation to the next, with a steadily worsening outlook.

Here’s one with more details about exactly what is going on at Guitar Center, written for people who know more about finance than I do. Although I know enough to know that a company isn’t offering bonds at 13% if they expect to actually pay them off.
