Question: Worst piece of gear you've ever owned?

Zoom 9002, back in the late 80's or early 90's. terrible tones, wild volume changes between patches/sounds. using it live was a nightmare.

I tried to use one of those into a Stewart power amp and speaker cab and it was a miserable experience.

Hmmmm....

I've had my fair share of crap gear. I think easily the worst was two Danelecto pedals I owned. Both were their cheaper line and were crap quality. The sounds were not good. One of them picked up a Spanish radio station when it was turned on at my house at night.

I once bought a used SD Curlee guitar because a bass player I knew had such a bass. He liked it because it was slightly stiff, and I soon realized it was very stiff guitar. I put on some really thin strings, but it was still impossible to play. Perhaps a pure rhythm player could use it for very stiff rock riff playing. I sold it to a guy who put on some heavy strings and used it only as a slide guitar.

A Strat.
We just don't get along.
I have owned 5 of them.
No joy.

I've have the same issue, and I have owed a few that were very high quality. Just not my thing....I think I've owned 6. I finally stopped trying.

I think this has been reissued by JHS for $299?

A LAG 12-string acoustic guitar. I played it in the store and it was a dream. Within a week at home the strings were laying on the frets. I took it back, they did a set up and it was great. Got it home again and the same thing happened. It obviously needed to stay in a humidity controlled environment; I don't know how you could have gigged with it.

Does the Tele I Paid $900 for and never received count?

If not Danelectro FabTone. Not Fab no Tone.
I grabbed my FAB Chorus for $10.

It works freaking awesome with synths to get some hugely lush sounds. The shitty construction isn't much of an issue either because you can just mount it on top of a keyboard and never have to stomp on it. Best ten bucks EVAR! :)
GK lunchbox amp.
Shrill, tinny little POS.
My buddy Mark Moore from my very first "real" band played a shreddy Ibanez through one of those ear splitting abominations. I seriously think it contributed a great deal to my high end frequency hearing loss.

Hear for yourself...

Yeah, I can’t really complain about mine. I got it in the Reverend Page Secret Santa.

Probably a Crate V3112. As cool as it was, as loud as it was, I was constantly having to work on it. Never been a fan of tube sockets soldered directly to the board, even worse when the sockets are plastic. I spent a lot of time cleaning/reflowing crappy solder joints, and replacing cheap switches and jacks.

Digitech RP-1?

I also recently found an LA Metal pedal in my parents’ attic. I have no memory of buying it or using it. I know these are legend in the suck Dept. I’ll have to fire it up one of these days.

Picturing a caring mental health professional, a doll... Can you show me where the bad pedal touched you?

Um...

...this...

Ha ha, I wonder how 18 years old me would handle it (like I said, I had the Tech4 which at the time seemed to have a lot of stuff).

DOD, right?
I love those old DOD pedals, with the silly graphics and knob titles.
I kinda wanna get an FX86 (Death Metal, without the "proper" knob titles) someday.

I was digging through some boxes last night and came across my old Planet Waves pedal tuner. What a steaming turd of a product. It's noisy, it weighs a goddamn ton, the switches never worked properly, the jacks were crap, and it never acted like it was receiving the right voltage (it was).

It has been relocated to a more appropriate receptacle.

I had one of those. It crapped out in less than a year.

Had one of these, sounded terrible in front of an amp. It did serve it's purpose though in that I bought it for the headphone jack when we had our twins. I later attached some computer speakers to it on my night table and it was okay for that. Sounded terrible in front of an amp though as I said
