Question: Worst piece of gear you've ever owned?

Duller than cardboard
I was digging through some boxes last night and came across my old Planet Waves pedal tuner. What a steaming turd of a product. It's noisy, it weighs a goddamn ton, the switches never worked properly, the jacks were crap, and it never acted like it was receiving the right voltage (it was).

It has been relocated to a more appropriate receptacle.

Mesa Boogie DC-3 head. Designed with excessive out-of-spec voltage to the EL84s for no discernible reason. Would redplate tubes quickly, even "Mesa" branded tubes.

I get equally good cleans out of a Peavey Classic and the tubes last.

I once bought a used Squier p-bass and the neck warped when I took the strings off to clean it up, making it unplayable. The neck ended up in the trash and I sold the body.

Peavey Mace. My first amp.

Worked my ass off one summer in the Texas heat and bought it new. Broke within three months. Warranty took six months to repair it. Came back and broke again in two months. Flipped it asap and swore off Peavey forever. That was over 40 years ago. To be fair an EVH passed thru my hands in a trade. It didn't stay long either.

Not counting my early junk guitars (Teisco, Silvertone with built in amp)
Peavy Deuce amp. Awful tone, and constantly required repairing cold solder joints.

Actually, looking back on it, the Teisco guitar probably wasn't as awful as I remember it.

Where I live, putting electronics in the garbage will get you hefty fine.

The first couple of electronic tuners I had were glitchy as hell. Can't remember what make they were.

My first amp in the early 80s was a SS Yamaha that was pretty weak. The clean tone was usable, but the distortion was appalling.

Probably a couple of solid state amps I owned in my teens. They were the cheapest used amps you could buy. But, without the dirt or overdrive, they did sound great.

Basically every piece of gear I've ever owned and sold to buy something else, I pretty much wish I still had it. It was all good stuff.

Peavey Backstage 30. It was my first amp, a castoff from my older brother. I guess it was good in its own way -- you could dime the thing and there wouldn't be even the slightest trace of distortion. Clean, bland tone for dayz.

I tried to remedy that with my second worst piece of gear, an Arion Distortion pedal.
