Achtung! Will Smith just got FERSH at the Oscers did u see that, he slapped The Rock and yelled the f word

Chris Rock is a comedian. He was doing a bit, which was pretty insensitive if he knew about Jada's condition, or a real gaff if he didn't. Rock's an aging comedian with a career built on controversy and he's trying to score some laughs.

I think Smith was overcompensating for the very public emasculation he incurred vis a vis the consensual but not quite 100% consensual open relationship business. And in doing so, he made it worse.

Or maybe not, I dunno. In any case, Smith's the bigger trash bag in this scenario. And the fact that his 23 year old son is cheering it on says a lot about the type of guy Will Smith is offscreen.

One thing I don’t understand is why everyone assumes Rock wrote the joke. It probably wasn’t even written by him, it was just something for him to read off of a prompter that someone else wrote.

I’m not saying that he doesn’t write his own material for his standup and other stuff, but that shows like this usually have a bunch of writers no matter who the presenter is

All the celebs criticizing Smith are regretting it now.

Not sure I am in any place to criticize anyone. However, this whole shit show is just sad and points out how messed up humans are. Fans of celebrity who took bad humor/insults to public display of physical violence now use social media violence to hammer people who criticize the display of physical violence. And around and around it goes. Yay.

And meanwhile, of course, climate change, Ukraine, Ginny Thomas, Texas, Idaho, bumfuckeverywhere outlawing queer people and taking control over woman’s control of their bodies, etc. *sigh*. I plan to play my guitar today I guess.

Humans are fundamentally flawed, and Hollywood celebrities continue to show the extremes of that. Yet somehow, they manage to gain mass followers and admiration, which only feeds their self-importance. Around and around it goes indeed. You said something about playing guitar today? Sounds like a good idea.

Already there for one quick session woodshedding my finger style I am trying to learn for one short session. Will be back at it later.

bread and circus. Same as it ever was.

I wonder also if he wrote the joke himself. The Grammys are trying desperately to be edgy like the Emmy awards for ratings. I blame Ricky Gervais.

Ok, so not pretending we white people should have had no reaction to this thing. But kinda wishing I had listened to this woman and her points before I weighed in in any way with any sort of opinion. Her first point being that white people should consider sitting this one out in terms of judgments and opinions. At least I did that only here, amongst my guitar nerd friends, and not openly in social media. But anyway, I like her thoughts on this. Presented in three pieces.

(Intro from a friend of mine): “Sonya Renee Taylor has three very good videos on the Chris Rock/Will Smith Slap that are worth your time. What are the tools for the new world?

The preview link is for part 1, but the links to all are below.”

I don't think you can tell someone something is a compliment if they don't see it that way.

That is 100% correct. It does matter most how she took it... but she's pretty close to a sociopath and regardless of whether or not you are a sociopath, if you are famous and want to go to big events like the Oscars, you shouldn't go if you are sensitive as fvk.

Was she upset? It sure looked that way. Why the fvk didn't she stand up and yell at him. Why didn't she tell him to fvk off? She had so recently said that she didn't care what anyone thought of he baldness. She had previously said that "it comes with the territory" when asked about comments. She showed herself as weak.

And she showed that Will is a puppet. So maybe, if you would consider that she got him to do that as control then maybe she's strong, not weak.

They need counseling.

Just in case you wanted to know where OJ stands on all this...

I swear that looks like a taco place on Daytona Beach. Is OJ in my town? RUN!!!!!!!
Seriously though, I doubt he would choose here over all of the way better spots on the east coast of Florida.
Right? Right?
