Who was your favorite Sesame Street muppet when you were a kid

huh. Someone over on HC had a muppet made of their likeness. Like they sent a photo and a company made them into a muppet. I guess I was confused in thinking it was you.

Over on HC, once upon a time, somebody posted a Buffy the Vampire Slayer thread, think I remember it was a paroty thread. Punk Kitty, me and, somebody else were all reminiscing about Buffy and, Angel. Guy who started it was mad, "this thread is a joke, you aren't supposed to talking about how much you liked it"we just kept going. At some point we got to the episode on Angel where everybody was a Muppet.

A few more thoughts on Ernie. It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie. Lesser characters include Burt the cop and, Ernie the cab driver. George yells Burt. Ernie. I always wondered if that was where the came up with the names.

One more reason to like Ernie: I had the 45 of Rubber Ducky .

I would have to say that oscar and Ernie were my favorites. I plopped myself (or my mom did) in front the tc and watched that show every day. That, Mr. Rogers, the electric company and whatever that show was that had different shows each day of the week. One day was Land of the Lost, then lost in space, Tom saywer or huckleberry Finn or whichever...
Funny thing is, I don't really remember anything specific about those shows, just that I watched the crap out of them.

I was a teenager when the PBS show aired, so I didn't pay much attention.
I only became a fan when the Muppet Show came around.
M y early childhood "educational" shows were Captain Kangaroo and Kukla, Fran and Ollie. I also remember Andy Griffith reruns early in the morning after Captain Kangaroo. But mostly cartoons. Mighty Mouse, Woody Woodpecker, Loony Tunes, Popeye, on real early in the morning. Also Tarzan movies, Lone Ranger, and the 3 Stooges in the afternoon. Hosted by Bozo the Clown, or Bennie Carl( a local kiddie show producer/character, seems every town had one.)

Ah, the good ol days when kiddie TV was just juvenile entertainment.

I'm only funnin of course. Sesame Street was educational and entertaining . A good thing.

Hmm- I'm not sure about a single favorite, but these guys stick out in my mind. Also Grover & Cookie Monster.

Casey & Finnigan, & Fraggle Rock I also really liked.

Howdy Doody Show???

I'm too old for SS and it came out originally on PBS which we did not get.

For me it was this....I still remember the melody of the opening song

Yep, I grew up with Howdy Doody, Captain Kangaroo, Romper Room, Ding-Dong School, and a few local programs like Pete the Pirate and Lorenzo the Clown.

As to the OP, I'll go Cookie Monster with Oscar being a close 2nd.

Pete the Pirate!? My wife and brother-in-law grew up in MD and have brought up Pete the Pirate on more than one occasion. He was a local TV show, right? I had never heard of him until they talked about him.

Back in the 60's, before syndication took over, a lot of local stations had home-produced TV shows...especially kids shows. I don't think that happens much anymore.

I grew up in Houston. For us the local show was Kitirik. She was a woman dressed in a cat suit and hosted a kids show at the local ABC affiliate. You could even schedule birthday parties there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitirik

Another one was Cadet Don. It was Houston in the 60's when the space race in full motion.

Those local shows were pretty cool. I also remember Professor Kool's Fun Skool. (I think that was the wrong spelling they used.) Those were the days. As I say, Jim Henson had a show, Sam and Friends, that was out of the DC area that we would watch.
