In November 1969 I was engaged in a battle with the draft board, participating in the anti-war movement, playing the Baltimore coffeehouse circuit, and hanging out with friends. I didn't really get to see Sesame Street until my son was growing up in the late 70s. Ironically, I was well aware of Kermit from my childhood as Jim Henson had a show on a local station and Kermit, though he might not have had that name, was on it.I got there as a teen (if we're talking Sesame Street) as well. But then I started watch again when my oldest was two or three. It brought back all the love...except for Elmo. He's my least favorite character...wasn't featured when I was a kid and is given way too much screen time.
