White Elephant Recordingfest SONG REVEAL!!!!

My mixes are all sounding awful, I guess trying to do it all with the studio cans backfired.

Now starting over with the minitors

We're trying to track vocals now, tonight, but we have people coming over to look at our bathroom since we need some work done in there.
Everything is pretty much ready to go and Kate sounds good from what I can see.

The downside: the drum track I wanted to use imploded so I have to use the Plan B drum track (GRUMBLE). It'l do. I'm not picky I guess. Stay tuned.

Oh, I forgot. I erased 90% of the verse rhythm guitars. What was I thinking?

I'm going to go ahead and post all we have tomorrow morning, although any of you partway through, go ahead and finish up when you can and i'll add you to the reveal. :thu:

Screw it, I'm gonna send what I've got to Phil now. It sounds like garbage, which I don't get, because all of the individual tracks sound good by themselves. They just aren't blending well and I can't waste any more time on it.

So I hacked off the last two minutes and am sending it as is. I have some business stuff to work out this week, and I need the time.

Sorry, it's gonna sound pretty awful, but when I can get around to it, I'll fix it up and provide a link to a better/longer mix.

I have pretty good headphones, but i can NEVER mix to them for some reason. When i get it just right, and pass it through the monitors it always sounds like ass.

Don't worry, mine hit a saturation point and I just couldn't sit there and tweak it anymore, even a week later. I don't want to listen to mine for a LONG time.

Mixing with headphones normally causes and overly wide stereo image with a really weak (and muddy) center. You can do it, but you need to compensate for this right off the bat.

You'll probably use too much reverb too. :embarrassed:

I can honestly say there is a Tom Waits song i do like now. But i never want to perform it again.

I need to look into some way of improving my vocals. This is going to be a hindrance for me.

What happened to Kenneth btw? He's always down for this stuff.

Ah, the life of a Rock Star.

Update - well we got a little farther. First verses double tracked and it sounds great. I hope to finish tomorrow. She wants to work a little on the chorus since she's trying to sing below her range but the verse vocals sound great to me.

Cool! I'm looking forward to this one.

Not exactly.

Spent Tuesday-Thursday last week working and putting the house back together. Spent Friday and Saturday at Lino's cabin in Pocahontas County. Sunday I drove home and then just relaxed. Yesterday I put brakes on the car.

Haven't played a guitar at my house since P-Stock.

I know atleast one has been played, lol
