+1. It’s just short bangs to keep the hair out of his eyes. Compare it with the real Hetfield mullet pictures and it’s obviously not a real mullet. But it does need brushing.

I ate mullet in Pensacola many years ago. It's a different species than the ones we have along the Texas coast.

Could be a local thing, but it always struck me that mullets were for blokes who didn't have the courage to grow proper long hair like hippies and headbangers, perhaps out of fear of being mistaken for women.

It's like the '80s overcompensating wannabe alpha male was scared shit of gender bender aesthetics, and yet idolized hairmetallers dressed like movie cliché Sunset Boulevard prostitutes, but hated Annie Lennox and David Bowie.
