What's your favorite apple?

Here's a new one I want to try...the Cosmic Crisp

"Cosmic Crisp is an American apple with the variety designation WA 38. Breeding began in 1997 at the Washington State University Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee, Washington, initially overseen by Bruce Barritt and now by Kate Evans. Wikipedia
Hybrid parentage: Honeycrisp × Enterprise"

Known as Mountain Apples in Hawaii (Malay Apple)

BITE YOUR TONGUE. There’s an amazing range of apple cultivars and many of them taste AMAZING. The grocery store barely scratches the surface of the wonderful world of noms.

Yup. Over 2.5K varieties are grown in the US alone. I weep that I will never taste a majority of them.

I just found these at Sprouts. They're Snapdragon apples, a hybrid of Honeycrisp and something else.

Probably a Gala.

But it seems like every year there are at least two more apple varieties. Seriously - this is getting stupid. We do not need a choice of 25 apple types in the store.....

worldwide there’s something like 7,500 varieties

I’m a fan of whatever in the store or orchard is fresh, firm and leans to the tart or more balanced flavor. Most recently I had some really nice Spartans
