I think this was recorded maybe four years ago. Last time I saw him in the mid 00s his voice was between so-so to really bad, but I was blown away by just how good he sounded at the Fillmore gig after he'd quit smoking, I guess, several packs a day. When I think about what my grandpa was capable of at that age, I think it's rather amazing.
