good ol' swegrind, cheap indian food, and mediocre office coffee somehow add up to a lunch experience waaaay more than the sum of its parts.

purists may complain that this album is too slick/well produced, but I think it's my fave of theirs

so huge

super awesome!
what the heck is that wacky sax he was using for drone-y stuff (he picks it up around 6:10)!? like a bari but with a tiny bell.

in related news, too many zooz is playing chicago this summer, but it's part of a giant multi-day fest thing of the sort I hate. :/

No idea. Maybe one of our horn knowing forumites can tell us.

I hate festivals.

It’s a clarinet.

Neither saxophone nor clarinet are brass instruments, they’re woodwinds.

King Crimson - 11-2-95, Houston, TX

The one and only time I’ve seen them live. That night I was a little put off by the double-trio format they were using at the time, it was pretty effen big and loud! So glad I finally downloaded the recording, now I can properly appreciate how amazing that band was. (“Was,” in the sense that each era of KC is a different animal).

I for one loved the double trio thing. They did some unbelievably heavy shit at that time.
Think Bruford said in an interview as well that Mastelotto is the loudest drummer he's ever heard.
