Built Ford tough

Death wobble is a real thingJeeps are most famous for it...the Ford guys are wanna be's. I first heard about Death Wobble from my co worker years ago ...The story was the old owner (you know who he was...started with an L) owned a 76 International scout and it had serious death wobble, real bad,.
Do a Google search for Jeep death wobble...
Myself had a mild case of it about 3 years ago briefly...

Death wobble is unique to solid axle fron t suspensions on 4x4's. Independent front suspension can not ever get death wobble.
It has to do with rebound energy.
Wornout suspension partsa can amplify it but are not the cause, notr is alignment and lets be honest on a solid axle front there really is no alignment...sure you can get a aftermarket offset balljoint but for the most part it is just toe adjustment....caster and camber is really not adjustable (unless you go aftermarket stuff).
The real cause is un balanced tires and when you hit a rough spot be it a pot hole, etc at certain speeds (maybe 25 and up) what happens is that the axle assembly shifts as designed but then there is all of this wobbly unaccouyted for action going on due to the unbalanced tire and it just is natural physics. it's like if you were to hit your car antennae with your hand.....it's gonna spring back and forth

here is a jeep front end...other Solid axles are very similar
the track bar is responsible for centering the axle assembly. It can also be the problem if the mount holes are worn out. jeeps have aftermarket ones which i have which are adjustable to compensate for lifts and that is another culprit...lifted four by fours with solid axle because lifting no matter how small shits the assemble just slightly. With adjustable you can get it back to center.

an interseting side note is that the green bar...the tie rod is what adjusts the toe and the drag link is what centers the steering wheel.
unlike any other non solid axle vehicle you can perfectly center a steering wheel independant of toe(alignment). No fancy equipment needed...just rotate that center piece trial and error....it's pretty dang sweet *spits*

i hope this helps.

I've watched this music video so many times. The combo of random cats/dogs and weirdos and the memory of normalcy before pandemic... plus it's a great song.

went down the rabbit hole of natalie merchant/10,000 maniacs last night whilst laying in bed. ....just one of those things. I Apple Musiced B.A.D and one thing led to another and I was remembering some great songs they had
