We're moving house next week.

Yikes....

Fingers crossed it's nothing.

We got chinned for mould in our loft during the home report. Half an hour hitting it run of the mill mould spray and pulling the insulation clear of the soffit vents sorted it.

Going to check the loft with a pal tomorrow who works in insurance and will have a decent idea of what / how big a problem it might be. Will need to check the home report to see if it was flagged up, it's not something that you'd miss if that was your job to find stuff like this.

On more positive notes - for an old dear she had a pretty high tech house. Our downstairs bathroom mirror has bluetooth  The fridge is a demon too and the range cooker.

Lola is loving the new place and she's not even had a play in the garden yet. Went a nice walk earlier around the place.

Nothing flagged up about mould or damp in the home report which is astounding. You don't even need a damp meter to know some of the walls and ceilings are riddled.

Also, less inclined to be understanding of the seller. I typed up a little "manual" for our place so she knew how everything worked and where stuff was. Rhey didn't even bother picking her dogs shits up from the garden!

It turns out, after filling it, that the hire vans back door doesn't have a locking mechanism so if anyone wants to try and ponce poor old Geordies array, tonight is the night.

I still chuckle every time I see that under your username.

Been up the loft and its in better nick than I was expecting. There's lots of mould but I can fix that and everything seems dry.

Pal in insurance is coming over tomorrow to double check.

The fridge keeps leaking and they left it in a disgusting nick so we've ordered a new one. £900 kick to the nads but she was gunning for one of those fancy ones with the digital window that cost almost 2 grand so I'll chock this up as a win

Neighbours seem nice and it's stupidly quiet.

About take rake Mrs JBJ a walk to a nearby pub as she wants to check it out.

Unbeknownst to her I grew up across the road from it and it's rough as f***. Proper old school scheme bar, can't wait to stick my head in :embarrassed:

Moving can be such a hassle, right? It sounds like you've got an interesting situation with your neighbor-turned-friend Badger. Moving day might be a bit chaotic, but at least you're just a stone's throw away from your new place.
As for the emotional part, it's totally normal. Moving can be a mix of excitement and nostalgia. Enjoy that last hot tub session, and cheers to new beginnings!
Oh, and speaking of moving, if you ever need some pro help, check out Three Men and a Truck on threemenandatruck.net. They came through for me big time.

I'm not visiting unless there's a bi-fold door. Wait, that was your plan all along!!

Send me 170 of your crypto monies and I'll get them put in right away. :embarrassed:

Pissing down today and there's water ingress in the upstairs extension.

Did a bit of investigation but it's hard to say. Not sure whether it's an actual leak from today's rain or a result of her son leaving the Velux windows wide open when it's previously been raining. My current money is on the latter.

3 months we've been in next week. Time flies

A lot of work still to be done (was at the DIY shop picking up plumbing bits and bobs at 7am before work this morning!) but we've made a lot of progress, whilst haemorrhaging money at an astounding rate but we've dealt with all the pressing issues when we first got in.

New windows and french doors already in
New radiators going in next week
New velux windows going in next week
Main bedroom is pretty much decorated
2nd will be done by the weekend
Living room is ready to be decorated, hopefully get that at the weekend too
Whole new furniture set for the main bedroom
New mattress too
Bought a REALLY nice chesterfield seat for the future den while we were at it but thought I'd not be a selfish p**** so that's come out of my own money.
New fridge and washing machine (necessity), new TV (not)
Finally got a start creating the dressing room though still living out of boxes for the most part.
Nice big plant (of which s name I forget) in the main bathroom.

I'd be lying if I said my beer machine hasn't taken a hammering since moving in :embarrassed:

Tax return due by the end of the month. If I owe less than £5k it's go time on getting a new hot tub sorted.

New floors upstairs once the decorating and dressing room is finished.
Finish downstairs decorating
Get the mancave / den sorted downstairs after that
Just try to keep on top of the garden the first summer
October full blown, walls knocked down kitchen reno and downstairs floors and that'll be us set for years.

It feels A LOT more like our home than when we moved in.

Outside of getting the place ship shape, the actual day to day living is great.

It's so much more space. Way more than we actually need tbh but we're growing into it.

The amazing park is literally 30 seconds from our front door. Lola loves it and it's between us and most amenities so even walking through it just to go somewhere or get stuff done is really enjoyable.

The garden is great, I can't wait until the summer.

The external garage is huge. I can go and hide from Mrs jbj.

I was already friends with one of the next door neighbours and a couple of people in the estate. We barely see anyone but everyone we have has been lovely.

It's SUPER quiet. I grew up in the scheme and this is the first time I've ever been in a 100% nice area. It's taken a bit of getting used to (there's barely even traffic) but it's a nice change of pace.

It sounds fantastic. I hope that it keeps going so well as it seems to fit what many people strive for.

It's going to be amazing. Currently freezing my nads off sipping a beer as I "tidy" the garage while Mrs jbj does the dinner. :embarrassed:

£2k on new Velux windows last week :annoyed: just in the nick of time tbh as a big storm is blowing through.

One of my fence panels is now very much lying in the middle of my neighbours garden and I'm more fascinated watching the lamp post and neighbours trees across the road struggling to stay upright than what we've got on Netflix.

Mrs JBJ went a bit left field and picked up a bunch of bougie paint on clearance. Nice stuff, usually £70 a tin!!

I was a bit apprehensive when she wanted brushed copper for a feature wall but my dad (painter decorator) got at it and it looked pretty good. I did the same int he living room and he's just come in and said I did a better job than him. I hate painting so I'm taking that as a win.

New mattress tomorrow. New rads on Wednesday. Couple of more weeks of my dad knocking the last couple of rooms back to white for us to decorate and we can chill for a bit.

Not submitted it yet but my tax is looking like it might need less KY than usual so I'll be reaching out to my hot tub guy post haste. :the:

Bumped into the Badger in Spoons before the cup final yesterday @Motorik

We exchanged Sectarian pleasantries and had a quick pint together.

Been hitting the garden in the new place, weather has been grim and slowing things down but I'm getting there. It's a great space when the sun is shining.

My mate also gifted us a £15k bright orange Italian leather couch for the den

Congratulations and condolences!

We moved about 7.5 years ago… about 40 minutes away. Had been in the same house for 17 years at that point, filled a 20 yd dumpster in about 2 days before that one…

It literally took all day, we had ordered “Two Men and a Truck”. Ended up needing 4 men and 2 trucks!
