Well known guitar makes or models that you've never played

When Woodwinds & Brasswinds was still open in South Bend, they always had a few Rickenbackers.

I played one there that had ultra-low action and the neck felt tiny. Felt to me like it was a 24" (or shorter) with a 1 5/8" nut width. I didn't care for the metal plate thingy over the bridge, but it had what looked to be some sort of mini-humbuckers that sounded decent.

Didn't care for the $2k+ price tag either :embarrassed:

Don't they have some sort of weird distribution parameters? I hardly ever see them in shops. I've only known a couple people with them, none of whom I was in a "let me play your guitar" situation with.

I remember a guy locally who ordered one a good few years back over here and he had to wait well over a year before he actually got it. Low production volume so there are often huge waiting lists for some models. I suspect the few that end up in stores are likely to be returns or less popular models.

I've never played an Eastman but I'm very interested in them. Gibson L5 or Super 400, Gretsch country gentleman, Parker

Now, if the topic was well known pedals I've never played through, it would be pretty much everything but a Cry Baby, Tube Screamer, and DD-3. I might have used the guitar of a guy in my dorm while it was plugged into a Big Muff.

It’s weird that Rics are so rare. Guy in my band owns 2. There’s approximately 947 Rics on the wall at CME and even the local Guitar Centers usually have one or two of ‘em. Plus there’s a couple smaller guitar boutiques here that have them too. They’re definitely a niche thing. I like them a lot, but have never owned one just because the timing never lined up for me on price/availability/condition.

Take that back, I did buy a 360 six string a couple years ago off Reverb, but it arrived completely trashed because the dude packed it for absolute shit and it got bounced around a ton during shipping. Played and sounded quite nice, but the thing arrived beat all to hell because it wasn’t secure in the case and something got loose and chewed up the finish in transit as the case rattled around in this cavernous box with absolutely zero packing material. A shame, really. At least he took his lumps and issued an immediate refund and ate the shipping.

Ouch! Such needless damage for an expensive guitar.

That's a good topic too! I predominantly play clean, but i did go through periods of trying lots of pedals whenever I was in a guitar store. I haven't done that for many years though, so if a pedal has come out in the last ten years then I haven't played it.

We could play a game called Boutique Pedal or Craft Beer!

Melt Forever — beer or pedal?

Superball — beer or pedal?

Lucydreamer — beer or pedal?

Sugar Bandit — beer or pedal?

Skrap Metal — beer or pedal?

Long Tongued Liar — beer or pedal?

Ha! They are very similar. Case in point: You just know this could as easily be a pedal as an IPA

If this was a pedal, what kind of pedal would it be?

Yes! I can just see Andy of Proguitarshop demonstrating it in mind's eye right now. :thu:

Demo starts with a riff from a mid-career Black Keys track. Then he does a note-perfect recreation of a Graham Coxon solo off Parklife. Then he demonstrates the sparkle the pedal adds to your tone when you roll back the gain by doing a little part from Marquee Moon.

That is scarily accurate!

Black Sheep dark ale. Brewed using a blend of the finest pale, crystal and roasted barley with two bitter hops combined with the majestic and noble 'Fuggle' hop to produce a beer of awesome full-bodied flavour with subtle overtones of cherry, mint, and grass. 5.5%ABV

Never played- Jackson, Kramer, Guild. Rickenbacker, ESP, LTD, Carvin, Keisel, Abasi, Fano, Revolting, or BC Rich.
