Well, I have a Firefly FFDCD (P90x2 LP Special clone) coming.

Just a first day home report. Was busy all day and into night so did not get much of a chance. It looks great, and I am not worried about any fit/finish paint stuff, fret ends, etc. The action seems fine. It needs to be intonated, and I have the book that shows me how. Guess this is the guitar I learn on. Open strings, and holding down notes at the octave is off. And cowboy chords seem sharp. I don’t like whatever strings are on it, but I have plenty of the strings I like. Stock pickups are a bit flat/dull/lack any sort of detail. But we knew that going in. They did not sound horrible at low volume, which was all I could do by the time I plugged the guitar in. the Gibsons will be better though.

The frets don’t look like they need a bunch of work in terms of tapping any in, etc. That I can tell. Fretboard can use some lemon oil but not bad at all. Here are the replacement USA Gibsons (2018) on my amp. They came in a Fralin box (must have been what the seller got to replace these). And it is different enough from my P90 in the neck tele for me not to feel badly owning it. Very pleased! New pickups, new strings, intonation, and should be a great little guitar that I bet I use a lot!

Was able to plug in and turn it up a bit just for a couple minutes. Just straight in right now as nothing else is hooked up at the moment. Nice! Growly! Even with the not super amazing stock pickups. the others will be even better.

Next, when I have some time, it will be adding a RAT pedal to see what happens.

Pickup change will probably wait a week or two.

I was thinking I would stick with P 90s as that was the sound I thought it was looking for. I just want to have a good set that does the basic punky LP special sound. I like the BG pups p90 I have put me look for a set, used or not, that doesn’t cost that much.

I will just try it stock at first just because, of course. Thanks for helping me out with considering it.
Way late to the game here, but Rockinger.
