Was Alice Cooper not that different than David Bowie ?

Were the two that different or were they that similar

I agree with HIAR, Peen, GusChuggins, and funobro. Bowie wins if directly compared. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy or appreciate both for what they were.

Love them both, but for Cooper it was a stage act and pure theatre. For Bowie, it was a metamorphosis of sound, style, and personality. He was inventing new LIVES.

Bowie took himself way too seriously. Something that never could be said about AC.
Yeah I mean both 'personality types have their placce and I'm fine with both infact "at the end of the day" isn't laughter probably the greatest gift or the ability to "be fun" ..."laughter is the best medicine" , etc , etc, etc.

I think both are just as valid but many praise "high(brow) art" over "it is what it is art" if you know what i'm sayin....know what I'm sayin ? :embarrassed:

I guess my attitude is "what evs." I do think Bowie wins a head to head competition, but labeling high brow and low brow just divides people who can enjoy music and art, as is happening a lot in this country today. Unhelpful.

wait, you just picked a winner in a theoretical contest and then you tell me something (highbrow) vs something (lowbrow) is not helpful...I'm getting mixed messages bro ....is there two kinds of competition or is some forms ok and some aren't:confused:

Alice Cooper absolutely took himself very seriously. And it’s gut-bustingly hilarious to watch. Much like Danzig, really.

I bet you wouldn't say that to danzigs face

My point is that in the comparison that you set up in this thread, Bowie wins. BUT, that doesn't mean that Cooper did not have value in his own right. So therefore, the comparison is not that helpful. In other words, I do not think they are that similar or the same or equivalent. But so what. You asked a question in the OP (is cooper not that different?) that brings this all up. And that, respectfully, is my answer. No hard feelings or anything. That is just what I think. Cheers! :)

Beef Wellington is a very silly dish. It's also kinda super appealing for that reason, like seeing a chamber orchestra at the top of a mountain.

I like bowie a lot, but I have much stronger opinions about beef wellington than I do about him or alice cooper.

I think they were starting from from sort of the same place (sorta, kinda), but Alice settled into what Alice is and playing golf while Bowie 's thing was "Did that, what can I do now?"

Coop took up teh golf to displace the booze he said. He beat booze with Golf.

This here is just brilliant....totallly GLAMorous especially the last part. The ragged vocals .....textbook brilliance ....i doubt Bowie ever did anything this sinister
