REM. By a very wide margin.
This. though I enjoy me some B-52’s now and again. But more of a nostalgia or novelty than when I listen to REM.REM — bigger catalog, wider variety of songs, a couple absolutely classic LPs over the course of their career.
I’m surprised the vote (despite a shit turnout) is this close. I love B52’s and they’ve made some great music but they’re not even in the same ballpark or sport as REM. IMHO.
I think its a fair contest - quirky alt rock bands that formed in the late 70s/early 80s in Athens GA is a pretty small club
Also I like B52s better. REM is a little nostalgic but B52s are still super fun every time you hear them.
Well yea, they both formed in Athens, but REM sold 90 million records to B52s 20 million. 6 platinum albums to 2 and REM had a few 4x platinum and some double platinum to B52 having 1 double platinum. REM have sold more albums than Van Halen, Journey, Tom Petty, Nirvana and the Police. So yeah both alternative bands from Athens, but really not in the same ballpark when it comes to success. I love the B52s, but it's really no contest.
Right. Up next, Prince vs Soul Asylum.I think its a fair contest - quirky alt rock bands that formed in the late 70s/early 80s in Athens GA is a pretty small club

Right. Up next, Prince vs Soul Asylum.
