Top 10 guitarist of all time per Guitar World!!! So You know it’s fact

I have the box
The Top 10 greatest guitarists of all time, as voted by the readers of Guitar Worldmagazine, are as follows:

1. Eddie Van Halen
2. Brian May
3. Alex Lifeson
4. Jimi Hendrix
5. Joe Satriani
6. Jimmy Page
7. Tony Iommi
8. Steve Ray Vaughan
9. Dimebag Darrell Abbott
10. Steve Vai

Guys one through three are greats, but Jimi belongs on top, and they’d probably admit it if you asked them (not that we can ask Eddie, but still). But it’s nice to see Iommi and Dimebag in the top ten.

Except for Lifeson, Satriani and Vai I'd go with that list...not in that order mind you.

Oh, and Angus needs to be in there, Richie too.

Angus? Malcom deserves to be on the list a lot more than Angus does. He might not have played lead but he birthed just as many great riffs as Iommi.

Impact on me and how I would have voted:

1. Jimi Hendrix: Popularized the change in how guitar is played and how I wanted to play. Love songs he covered and adapted to him.

2. Eddie Van Halen: Popularized the change in how guitar is played and how I wanted to play. Created his own thing that everyone loved and he stuck with it.

3. Steve Vai: Technically, I think he's the best technical player on this list. I like watching his videos about his work when he talks about writing, finding ideas, and playing.

4. Joe Satriani: Influenced me to want to use the guitar as my voice in music and not just be there for the vocalist.

5. Steve Ray Vaughan: Work hard and you can become a great player. Play fast, play hard, play clean; if you do cover Hendrix, be perfect.

6. Alex Lifeson: Love him as a player but didn't effect the way I wanted to play. Love Rush.

7. Tony Iommi: Riff monster. Made me think, hey, I can do this too.

8. Dimebag Darrell Abbott: Love Dime. Don't need tubes to be heavy. Have fun. Be nice.

9. Brian May: Didn't effect the way I wanted to play. Respect his ability but his band didn't appeal to me. Freddie Mercury had an incredible voice.

10. Jimmy Page: Did absolutely nothing for me. Love the band Led Zeppelin but, he's not a super hero to me.

As with all these lists, there are some people on there that have not influenced me at all, and some great influences that are missing. This is likely true for all of us. The list is clearly just ROCK players, so it is already a very narrow scoping.

Of course, I do not have the experience of the Guitar World editorial staff.

Not to take anything away from the talent of those guys but I can't believe something this stale still get clicks for GW.

I read Guitar World and Premier Guitar, Guitar Player, Fretboard Journal (some times), and others now and then. I love it all. How can you not want to soak up everything you can about players and gear?

I'm guessing Guitar World is read by 13 year old males.
Actually, 13 year old's are playing, and recording music. I'm friends with the family of a 14 and 15 year old who just finished their first cd and it's surprisingly good. Their high school has programs on performing, recording, maintaining anything and everything that has to do with performing arts. The sound stag is amazing and they put on weekly shows and concerts. They are out there playing and performing in front of hundreds of people every week. It's so far advanced from just high school band. They do everything and are super busy.

What's there to 'soak up' from that list?
