Tone Zone

Slender Hobbit
I popped the Tone Zone into my latest strat build. Way better than the strat style pickups.

The Zone has fat bawlz, so if that's what you're looking for, that's the one.

I have an Air Zone (a 'vintage voiced' version of the TZ) in the bridge of my Ibanez SZ520 and I love it.

Turn down your volume knob?
It doesn't respond to the volume knob very well, or maybe it does, I haven't played humbuckers a ton, but it doesn't clean up, it just gets quieter. With my tele, rolling back the volume just cleans it up until I get to the end of the sweep. The Railhammer I have responds like the tele though.

Well, I was going to put one in my Dean Evo. This is my second Evo, it was made in the Czech Republic. First one was Korean. Bought both of them used so, I'm not 100% sure but I think they come stock with a push pull. Anyways, both of mine did. Looking for pickups, I had that in mind when I chose the Tone Zone. So, that's something you might try before you give up on it.

Start with the volume at 7 instead of 11. It’ll clean up better and you’ll have more volume available.

Tone Zone is on its way back to Dimarzio. It is a good sounding pickup, but far too different from my Tele and I don't want to have to tweak my amp every time I swap guitars. It would have been a perfect pickup for my one college band or the band I was in 15 years ago. It did sound huge through the Rat into the Marshall.

Mild disappointment

You might want to try the Air Zone at some point. It has some of the attitude of the TZ, but is more open and hot PAF-like, with a nice crunch that cleans up well. Works great in bright guitars.

I was going to go for that one until I saw the Bluesbucker. Looking at their 'tone guide' it was the closest to the Area T, which has become my favorite pickup.
