This weekend I am going to learn all those 80's songs I've always wanted to, but.....

The Smithereens had a lot of cool songs. I've never bothered to learn any, except bits and pieces while messing around on the acoustic, but they don't seem that difficult.

NICE! Didn't think of that one.

And to whomever said "Under The Milky Way Tonight".......I hit that one yesterday, too!

I mean, The whole song (besides the bagpipe solo) is only 3 chords.....

Actually, I preferred learning The Church's "Metropolis", another good one.

The only one I really haven't gotten yet is The Cure's In Between Days. Can't figure out the second chord. It's some deririvative of D, but not sure exactly what............I just sort of moved on to the next one.

Whoever said "The Cult", well, She Sells Sanctuary was the first song I really ever learned how to play all the way through........and that was in 1985 or so.

The Cult had some great tunes. And some not so good ones, too.

Lil' Devil, SSS, Rain, Edie (ciao Baby) were all staples of mine back in the day.........perhaps I'll learn Revolution.

I mean,,,,what does revolution mean, to me?

You know, the 80's had a lot of really crap songs, but there are a few gems hidden in there.

My fingers are actually hurting today from yesterday's all acoustic session. I'll have to switch to electric or something today, maybe take the day off......

Who knows, maybe next weekend it will be 90's songs.

Lil Devil was the the first song I figured out on my own. I felt like such a bad ass after that :embarrassed:

Chad, I was thinkin' the same thing.
love that cover, though I wish they'd kept the pace on the last verse there...rather than slowing it down.
or half-timing, I guess I should say

I don't htink I've ever heard that song before.
she's cute though.
but yeah, I can't see me doing that one

well, not today, anyways.
I do have a lulz-worthy tune in the works for today though.
it's more suited for tomorrow, but we'll see what happens

IIRC she was Prince's drummer at one point.

I used to cover that version in a couple of my old bands. It is a fun tune to play.

Rev, weird that I never heard of her...
not a bad tune, as it is, but would be an assload of work to Peekerfy it.

Chad, I fought tooth & dokken to cover it in an old band of mine, but the other 2 guys voted me down. :(

this wasn't long after 7 Seconds released that record, too.
woulda been a hit.

reminds me, I gotta dig out my old 7S tapes and bounce 'em to the computer
