Got home after midnight due to a one-off project. Stayed up until about 1:30, checking the basement to make sure the sump is still working, and winding down. Wife wakes me up at five, then falls back to sleep :rolleyes:.

Have an install scheduled for 8 :facepalm:.

Gonna be a long day...
 
We got a lot of rain overnight. Just west of me they got 9". It will continue raining all day. I think we got about 4.5" so far. I haven't gone down to the basement yet. I'm dreading that.

I didn't sleep well either. I got to bed around midnight but didn't get to sleep until 1. I woke up at 5:30. It's going to be a long day.

Holy crap! There's a 20 foot sinkhole on the south side of Chicago! That rarely happens around here.
 
I've got 4 tooth extractions tomorrow morning. It was 5 but they decided root canal on one instead. I've got to sleep!
Wife and boys are going to see family again this weekend and I'm staying home to recover. Guess I'll sleep then.

Yup, that's pretty crazy.

Down here, the rain stopped a while ago, so at least the standing water in my 'hood has receded, and my sump is running slightly less often. Probably going to start back up a little later - let's hope it doesn't get too bad this afternoon. Maybe 1-2 more inches of rain, hail, tornadoes...

Where exactly? I used to work at 35th and Giles. I'm crossing my fingers it was there. :grin:

Shit! My voice just stopped working and my throat went sore. It happened while I was talking to my mom on the phone. Very strange. It's like someone flipped a switch.
 
According to WBEZ (Chicago Public Radio) the 'sinkhole' in Chicago is actually a giant pothole.

Sinkholes are formed when underground limestone caverns collapse. A sewer collapse due to aging infrastructure caused this.

How comforting. I drive all over Chicago.
 
^^^ Yeah. But it's more hoarse than normal. My vocal cords are messed up so my voice is normally hoarse.
