So my wife left to go cook at about 11 AM. I have had plenty of time to kick around the Peavey Envoy. For kicks I dropped in the Clestion G10N-40, but honestly I did not hear any improvement, so I put the stock Blue Marvel back in. I have the Eminence Legend coming on Monday - it is meant for the Studio Pro, but I might drop it in the Envoy just to check it out. I also got a chance to dime the Envoy. Excellent...

I was trying to figure if you could use this at a practicde session (40 W RMS) and I think you could. No ext cab capability though - which is too bad. The only downside to the amp I can see. Well - no real effects - but that is not a deal braeker for me.

There's a Guitar Center just around the corner from me and I stopped in today to do some browsing. They had a used DeVille 2x12 for 350. It's way too much amp for my modest needs but at that price I'm tempted.

^^^ That IS a good price, but a lot of firepower. May be worth it, anyway

Back home. Great flight - felt weird coming home - haven't ever been gone this long.

So, I was getting the itch for a Strat again the last couple of weeks before the Strat sale ended  - BUT, I already know that they come even cheaper used, and can be had all over. So, I found something on EBay, and from the vagu description determined that the seller was underselling. I ended up throwing in a bid while I was waiting to get off the plane at O'Hare . I should see it in a week....

Morning

I am taking today off. The Easter meal was chicken curry. I had one plate of that, and that's all. I s/b getting the Eminence Legend today. Gonna take Sasha to doggy day care shortly.

Bike maintenance and preliminary garden preparation took most of my weekend. We had two rosebushes that had probably been around for about 30 years, and I worked up quite a sweat getting them out -- also resulted in a broken set of clippers and a strained 'flipping finger' on my left hand, along with multiple thorn scratches (right through gloves). But, it was worth it to get it done! We're going to build a 3'x6' raised bed because the soil in our garden only goes about a foot deep -- sand below that -- and we're hoping an extra 10" or so of soil and compost will help get better veggies!

In other news, I did spend some quality time on the newer Gibson (LP "junior special" P90) and am starting to like it better than I did at first (the fingerboard is a bit cramped compared to my usual teles).

Afternoon.

Didn't get great sleep last night. Got up and showered, went to breakfast with the Mrs., then came home and took a nap :bor:. Been in the basement reacquainting myself with two of my LPs and the Blues Jr. I think I'm gonna be selling the 1960 Tribute - I like the Standard Pro better, and I can make some money on the 60 :embarrassed:. PLus I gotsa pay for that incoming thingy...

BTW, the Epi LP Standard Pro with the ProBucker pickups is killer :thu:. I'm still debating whether or not to keep the Custom, too, but it had a better neck than the 60, and has the ProBuckers like the Standard. Decisions,...

So I got the Eminence Legend - swapped it into the Studio Pro. At first I thought - OK - but maybe not as good as the Celestion I had in there - then again the Legend is not broken in. Then I switched my 3010 SE LP for my Vox SDC33 - my stars. The Legend IS as good as the Celstion I had in there. The difference was the guitar.

Comparing the newer Peavey Envoy with the Blue Strip Studio Pro - they both have really nice tone - but I will say the Envoy with the 3 voices per channel gives more tone options.

I am also kinda/sorta am gassin for a Made in USA Peavey Bandit. They stopped making US Bandits with the red stripe. And I have a lead on one. Gonna sleep on it.

Are you saying the 3010se or the Vox sounded better?

The Bandits are supposed to be great. I seemed to have noticed a lot of talk recently about them, and since, I tend to notice these more and more when they come up for sale.

Scot - I am saying the VOX sdc33 sounded better thru the Studio Pro. I think the VOX has higher output, and possibly wider range of output. The pup's are pretty good on the 3010 SE, and I think they are a great buy, but the VOX is a level up IMO.

Bandits have a following. The down side for me is the older ones get pretty heavy. Around 45 lbs. The Studio Pro covers a lot of the same ground, but I have $100 credit from GC and I can't think of a better way to spend it. I don't want any more guitars right now.

Good evening.

My anxiety is still a bit high even though things went off without a problem on Easter. Living with depression sucks.

A few weeks ago I got a deal on a set of "boutique" pickups. I tried installing them in one of my Heritages. I didn't like them at all. People on TGP seem to love them. They sounded flat to my ears. I pulled them. I had an older set of Rose Californias with an overwound bridge pickup. I swapped magnets on that set to A4 since I don't have anything else with A4. They sound AWESOME. That Ken guy knows how to wind a great set of pickups.

Anyone want to buy a set of "boutique" humbuckers?

Glad it went well for you, PK. Been there but burned the T-shirt!
I have a big family gathering Saturday to celebrate my uncle that passed away recently. His kids/my cousins are really fun and are all musicians, so it should be a great time.

What kind of fancy boutique pickups are you parting with?

I don't know that they are the fancy boutique types. It's a set of Porter Classics by Brian Porter. Alnico 5, low output. They don't sound bad. I was just expecting something different. They seem to love them on TGP. They just don't work for me.

I also have a set of zebra Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups with alnico 5 magnets that I will be selling. I really like those. I just have 2 sets.

Thanks Mon :) I absolutely love A4 magnets. Man, they are full of harmonic overtone and, ... I dont know.. I love them....

Just finished my taxes... God I hate doing that. even with software, it still sucks. Im starting to see expense patterns after 5 years...Also learning how to have some order with my paperwork. First fews years I was lost with filing..especially Sales and Use Tax..

And thats enough tax talk.

And now for a break from Boring talk, to awesomely terrible laughter....

Hang in there, Monica - you'll fight through it, as you always do :thu: Glad to know the holiday went off well.

Morning. Back to work again then. :embarrassed:

Just checked my taxes as well, quick math says I'll get a few quid back, I'm ok with that. :)

Hang tough Monica. You always do.

I have a very complicated tax situation from 2012 and will probably owe. I see a tax guy today.

Morning.

Tax mojo, x. I gotta finish mine up; fortunately, because I decided (wisely, believe it or not - usually not wise) to liquidate my 401k when I left my last employer, I get a nice chunk back because of the taxes I paid.

Worked out for the first time in about a week. Wasn't looking forward to it, but now that I did it, I can't wait to do it again tomorrow :thu: - back on track already! :)

Putting the Epi LP Tribute 1960 on the block tonight. I must say I prefer the other two Epis better, even though the Tribute has the factory Gibson '57 Classic pickups. The Standard Plus Pro with the Epi ProBucker pickups for the $399 special I got from AMS is a much more satisfying guitar; go figure .
