Damn you Saturn...that's a hell of a find...

...i haz jealous...

I have this puppy cranked up finally and it has some balls. So far I love the sound! Real Marshall type gain. I love the sound of a JCM800 cranked and this thing has that kind of grit.

Hmmm. Marginally better.

Nice score, Saturn!

Somehow I missed all of the forum drama over the past few days. I don't think that's a bad thing.

Saturn - HNAD

In my gear news: The Laney LC15R died yesterday. I played it Friday afternoon. Turned it off for a few minutes - when I turned it back on, the power light went on in front - but nothing is coming out of either channel. I tried external speaker - nothing. As fas as I can see NO tubes are lighting up. I knew these had problems with transformers, and got a GC warranty when I bought the Laney. So before I trucked down to GC - I called the 800 number for the Pro Coverage. They must have done the math quickly and said I would be getting a GC Gift Card for the purchase price of the Laney plus tax. AND I keep the amp. I will probably have my amp repair guy look at it - but if it is too expensive to fix, I will pull the Celestion speaker, and tubes out and trash the Laney.

Here are pics of the Vox SDC33. I am really impressed with it. It feels closer to a Gibby SG than a Lester. The hardware and electronics are very solid. I have not had a chance to check it out on high gain stuff, but the cleans are very, very nice. There is one small finish blem - but it's on the back - about the size of a dine. I will not send it back for that.

Thanks to PRScott for a lead on the Vox.

Nice guitar Woody. Oddly enough I was playing one of those when I checked out the Tube Driver. I was really impressed. I may have to go back and play it again.

Congrasts, Saturn :thu:

Woody, that guitar looks awesome. I really like what they did with the scooped neck joint. I may just have to check out a SC version.

Thanks all. I would call the quality in line with some of the lower end Gibsons. If it were not for the finish blen on the back I might say better quality than a Gibby SG Standard. BTW - it is Mahogony, but light - which I really like. If you find one used it is a ridiculous deal.
