The Official MWGL Prince Appreciation Thread!

Where the hell did his guitar go?

He had a stage hand that they had rehearsed the end-of-song guitar pitch... I've seen several live performances where they did the throw and it just looks like a magic trick because you don't see the catch. Honestly, it seemed pretty scary at times because even on the wide shots, I would be super nervous not to take a headstock to the face trying to catch with the lights blinking on and off.

I did read an article about a show where he threw a vintage epiphone and it got shattered.... only problem was, it was a borrowed guitar. Oops. :(

My Prince facts are a bit Hazy. I just learned he wrote Manic Monday. Rumor has it, he was trying to Bangle Susannah Hoffs.
The Bangles took it all the way to #2 on the Billboard charts.
Kiss held the #1 spot.
Pretty epic bass off here.

But ironically... the studio recording of "Kiss" doesn't have any bass. It really weirded me out when I realized that.

But this cover does a great job reimagining what doesn't already exist there.

Prince broke guitars all the time doing guitar throws. He often threw guitars multiple times during a show, so breakage was inevitable. He would get a luthier to fix them or just throw them away.

Whoa! I never caught that. Maybe he didn't want it to compete with his high pitched singing?
