No, I think we were both fine after about 5 minutes of tongue burn.

The video is only about 2 minutes long. I filmed for about 4 minutes and then edited out the least entertaining bits. The burn was probably the worst after about 3 minutes or so, and stayed pretty constant for the next 5 minutes or so, then started to ease up. By about 20 or 30 minutes, neither of us had any ill-effects.

I swear, it wasn't really that bad. I mean, yeah, it burned my tongue pretty bad for about 5-10 minutes, but if you just kept a mouthful of milk, it didn't burn while there was milk on your tongue.

And yeah, you are right, those little Thai chilis really feel pretty close heat wise. They are bloody hot.

My problem was i hadnt eaten in about 7 hours prior, so i think having a dead empty stomach was a mistake. I'm gonna have to try it again one of these days.

The worst part for me was that I got the hiccups right after putting the pepper in my mouth, so then every time I hiccuped the air would get sucked in to my mouth and cross my tongue, man that part sucked, it even made my eyes water, but once I got rid of the hiccups and I could get some milk on my tongue it wasn't so bad.

I wouldn't want to do that everyday, but it wasn't bad.

I'm betting no. He's a big wuss.

He acted like he wanted one of the Thai chilis too, and Mrs. P even left one on the edge of the counter to see if he'd steal it, but he didn't.

Someday.

I have to balance the pressure of you guys thinking I'm a wuss against Mrs W thinking I'm an idiot. :embarrassed:

I suspect she was decided on that one a long time ago, i dont think you could do much at this point to affect her opinion either way. biggrin

I've eaten a habanero before, but I didn't enjoy it. It was too hot, and it didn't really taste like anything but 'hot'. I'm not sure I'd do it again. :embarrassed:

I consume Thai peppers on a pretty regular basis, however. To me, they are pretty hot, and have a much bettor flavor...

Interesting - I find the hab to have a nice fruity flavor that goes well with the heat....

Honestly, I didn't taste much other than the heat. I'm sure it would give sauces a great flavor, but just eating the raw pepper....mostly just an excercise in pain.

Just watched the video. Congrats, Prages's! Nice one!

Am I wrong or is Mrs. P. the first female member to eat the hab?
