Hot or Not? The new PRS SE Hollowbody Standard

Jealous. Still no shipping notice for mine.

Yeah, they popped up on AMS a few days ago, so I jumped.

I got the fire red burst, and it looks quite subtle - more like a wine red with a slightly darker edge. So far, I like it quite a bit. Has the wide-fat neck, great frets, and was set up near-perfect out of the box. Pickups sound good and well-balanced. The tuners are good and tight; there appear to be no flaws on the binding.

I thought these came with a gig bag, but they actually come with a HSC, although it may be the flimsiest HSC I have ever come across. I also was disappointed that there was no documentation included at all, and the guitar, while being shipped in the HSC, did not have any protective plastic on the pickups or foam on the switch (perhaps it was a demo?), or any other wrapping of any kind.

We’ll see if it is a keeper in the coming weeks.

One week after my gallbladder exorcism, I felt well enough to sneak in a bit o’ the bourbon, and have at it with this for a couple of hours.

It did not suck.

FWIW, i was bending the living shit out of the strings during this time, and did not have to even touch any of the tuners. With the volume knob low: warm sweetness; with it up: kerrang city.

Yeah, I think it will do.
