This morning I opened an email from Bandsintown. It was announcing that Siouxsie Sioux was coming to Denver on November 1. I immediately clicked the link to order a ticket and the venue is The Hi-Dive—a small concrete box with a bar crammed in along one wall. And it wasn’t just Siouxsie—it was Siouxsie and The Banshees. I thought my head was going to explode—The Banshees in a dive bar? How could this even be possible?

Then I noticed “HALLOWEEN COVERS SHOW” on the image of a flyer. I was so disappointed.
 
I got to see Siouxsie and the Banshees, 1991, the Lolapalooza tour, on the main stage, at Fiddler's Green Amphitheater, Denver (Greenwood Village), CO. Siouxsie was in fine form. They played a great set!
 
St. Vincent and Nick Cave are coming to a moderately sized venue in my town and I was interested in getting tix which started at $79…which I think is steep. And then after fees one ticket was gonna top out at $107 so I disappointed myself by deciding against it.

Concertgoing costs are getting out of control. After one or two drinks and transportation, I’d be looking at $150+ for just me heading to a show. WTF?!? I can afford it but I refuse to contribute more than necessary to the lawyer-guitarification of semipopular music.

$107 seems a fair price based on inflation. But, there are certainly more affordable shows out there, as well as more expensive.

I’m not sure what value Ticketmaster is adding to justify an extra $29. I mean, with inflation I can get my head around an $80 ticket. But $30 in fees for having a barcode on my phone…

I'm not arguing that point. Overall $107 for a name act live show is a decent price.

Ticketmaster be damned! May they choke on their ill gotten gains and die a horrible, painful death!
