It is hard to believe, when you're a geezer like me that grew up with this stuff, that there's a whole generation that's not familiar with it. Add to it that classic/prog rock didn't get much, if any, play on R&B stations just adds to it. I love this guy's reaction to this Genesis classic.
He has some technical difficulties in the beginning. It doesn't really start until about 9:50 in.
But back to the OP, Comfortably Numb, and The Wall in general, is in that category of songs that I've just heard too many times. Watching that though, and listening to Gilmore's solo, it is a very well-crafted song. It's nice to see folks keep an open mind and appreciate great music for what it is, regardless of genre.

A lot of black metal. I've gone down the rabbit hole of watching their vids a few times.
They certainly know scripture. They have this tendency to take everything in the lyrics super earnestly, which is probably fair enough if you're criticising Jon Nödtveidt from Dissection, but when they're doing Ghost I feel you have to take it as tongue in cheek. But then their argument is that if a band are real out-and-out Satan worshippers hellbent on spreading the message they would do it in the Ghost way because that is more accessible, and not like Dissection or Watain or whoever.
I can't exactly put my finger on it/articulate what exactly it is, but there is something about the weird-ass cottage industry of videos of people-who-don't-normally-listen-to-X-reacting-to-X that really weirds me out.

peak youtubeThe best ones are the people who post videos of themselves just listening to the music and offering no commentary. Like posting a video of yourself sleeping or eating a meal. That’s my goal.

the performative aspect is definitely part of it. I don't know exactly how many subcribers/views one needs to make significant income from youtube, but I can't help but think of 'reactor' people getting up in the morning and having their coffee and thinking "back to the salt mines. time to go listen to music on camera." weird.I think a lot of it is fake as fuck.
Okay, so I just clicked up Vin and Sori's page on Youtube and noticed (in amongst all the black metal and whatnot) they're doing a reaction to Depeche Mode's 'People are People'. I honestly cannot believe they have never heard that before.
