the 47-foot speedboat he named Sexual Chocolate

You talking about Rodman or Sapp? The article linked referenced the latter, though I think it's Rodman with the boat. They're both morons, of one level or another. Good thing that the NFL recruits only after players get a college edumacation, right?

Really, though...Rodman is probably far more disturbed than any of them. It's hard to imagine that he's reached 50 years of age. He's just that self-destructive.

Just one of many people who come into a lot of money and don't find an independent financial planner, and a second independent planner to watch the first financial planner, and a giant accounting firm to audit both of the planners. It amazes me how much money these guys can blow through, and not put a dime into any sort of long term plan.

I can't say I feel bad for them at all. History is full of these stories. If I came into a giant NFL style salary and managed to come up with like 20 million bucks, I would have it all go to my financial planner and they would pay me an allowance, just so I have money to live forever AFTER I am done being a superstar. I kind of have something like that going now...except for the 20 million bucks and NFL salary.

oops...wrong link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...child-support/2012/03/28/gIQA4lWLgS_blog.html

"Rodman’s third wife disputes the claim that he is, in fact, a turnip."

I laughed

Dick Dale got a 69 foot yacht for his 69th birthday. Thats how its done, son.

On the case of the first link. How could someone be broke with a monthly salary of 115,000 dollars.

John Fogerty sang it best about the taxman (in this case child support judges) at the door.

and how is his alimony $800,000? they base that on percentage of income, clearly hes not making that much anymore so youd think that could be adjusted. seems hes been divorced since 2004 so thats what $100,000 a year in alimony payments?

Reminds me that I read last season that Mark Brunell was 10mil in debt, after earning something like 55mil over his NFL career. He made 4 or 5 business decisions that, on paper, looked good, but they all went bust for one reason or another.

I always wonder why athletes that make a huge amount don't hold a certain percentage of that back as 'untouchable' income. So, if everything else goes belly-up, you'd still never have to work again by living off the interest of the 'untouchable' money. Sure, you wouldn't be able to live in a ginormous house, have a Ferrari & a yacht, etc. but you wouldn't have to go work at the local Starbucks, either :embarrassed:

Sapp makes $115k a month and still can't afford his bills. I feel no pity for him at all.
