tapered sweat pants

I think it's intended to piss off the older generation since teh rock and roll isn't doing it anymore they figure...."hmmmJogger pants that should do it, yeah"
I'm not pissed. I just think it's a shame to walk around looking like a little pussy.

You're really offensive sometimes.
I grew up a certain way. Through the years I came to recognize a certain standard for what it is to be me. It's not something I impose on anyone but it is my opinion. During my life I've associated with thousands of people who have also shaped my views on stuff. I don't pretend so I can get along so I can go along. I'm quite sure if you saw what I'm wearing now you would have an opinion. For instance, I have red gym shorts on made of a red jersey material, a cotton Redskins T-shirt, grey gym socks that I cut off at the ankles to just wear the footies, and black leather ankle high combat looking type boots. I'm kicking back; will play some guitar; go out and work in my shop a little bit; tinker on my van; may cut grass or put on jeans and ride my motorcycle for 3 or 4 hours. Bottom line is I don't give two hoots if someone thinks I look like tinker bell at home because I'm home and it's private. If I go out in public like this then I'm giving people a chance to form a public opinion simply based on what I have on. Opinions are the asshole of everyone because everyone has one. At this moment there are 6 people who's opinion I really give two shits about. 6. Everyone else is dead. I suggest you stop being offended by my opinions and just don't give two shits about it because in your world it has zero value if it doesn't match who your are in the area where you live and the person you're trying be. I'm just some mother fucker on a website.

Wow, you guys are aurgueing over sweatpants?

For the record I like Joggers, they are great for weightlifting. They don't get in the way.

Sweat pants, cargo shorts and crocks appear to be this forum's trigger points for offense. That and getting offended by people who either are offensive or are offended by your offensiveness.

Back in my day we would not be caught dead in pants like Joggers. No way would any self-respecting male wear shit like that.

When we wanted to look real good we wore parachute pants, you know: the pants that were cargo pants but skinny and made of nylon ripstop. They looked real cool with sleeveless t-shirts, preferably the type that had the name of our favorite metal band on it. Fuck yeah! Van Halen sleeveless and parachute pants.

When that went out of style in a few months, and we were able to recoup the money we spent on that wardrobe, we went out and bought nylon or leather pants with about fifty zippers on them, to match the jacket with fifty zippers! We looked fuckin hot!

A few months later, and a few dollars lighter, we went out and bought those fucking cool Jams pants that had the crazy fluorescent (fuck! I forgot about the neon colors that were real big in the fall of '84!) patterns on them. Everybody who lifted wore those priceless pieces of sartorial splendor! And quite a few who did not even lift wore them too!

Until a few months later we decided it was cool to wear baggy shit because all the cons in county were wearing baggy shit and it looked so fucking cool!

I know, I know. I just compressed the timeline a bit but I have two brothers who did all of the above, along with about ten billion other Gen-X'ers. I was never much of a clothes horse and my job before the FD (Fucking free uniforms? REALLY? I don't have to decide what to wear?!?!), required me to dress in a manner that would not call attention to my presence, so I pretty much did the Levi's and T-shirt for about twenty years.

Point is that, yes, they do look ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. Laughably ridiculous. To us.

But we looked the same way to others when we wore the asinine shit described above.

I saw a guy yesterday wearing cargo sweat pants. Is that two wrongs making a right or dividing by zero?
I had a pair of those in the 90s. Heavy duty with belt loops and all 4 pockets plus cargo pockets. They were my fav camping pants wore those suckers out so comfy. Been looking for another pair for years but never found em.

I like joggers. I don't wear them everywhere, but I do wear them in quasi-exercise situations. They actually fit me better than most regular sweatpants.

Some of you guys sound like grumpy old geezers.
there's better options (think pants for climbers) you won't look like a tool and performance wise they will function better.

I'd feel like a real tool if I wore climbing pants. Last time I did any real climbing was in Army Basic training in 1984. I wear joggers to help coach my son's baseball games. They work fine.

I find it amusing that bunch of middle-aged guys who like cargo shorts and probably polo shirts are giving me fashion advice.o_O

I just thought it was guys wearing women's pants. Seriously, I find them extremely feminine and the men had them on also look feminine. Didn't know these were men actually trying to be manly and wear what appears to be women's clothes. The only person to pull it off was M. C. Hammer and it was his dance thing.
That's funny that you say the feminine thing...at the gym I go to there are a handful of 20-something guys that lift weights and strut around with their invisible luggage. (You know what I mean). A couple of them have some decent muscle size but anyway....it just kills me that these guys come to he gym and try to be big tough guys all while wearing spandex biker pants thingies with gym shorts over them and a man-bun going on.
I mean, can you possibly look any more fem....no really, can you??

Edit: it the same impression I get when is see guys wearing skinny jeans....

whoa  that means you're like 52 or so and you wear joggers.....yikes!

They're not skin tight. They're a bit less baggy than regular sweats. You probably couldn't even tell the difference.

You go on wearing your polo shirts and cargo shorts, and I'll wear what I like, ok?:poke:

I wore coach's shorts when I coached my kids teams, and a cup. That and cut off camo fatigues with cargo pockets.

Personally, I'd like to pick up 4 or 5 jogging suits, like you see the mob guys wear on t.v., to wear locally. The only thing close to it are bib overalls. They're like wearing underwear in public, and enough pockets for all your crap.

I remember how my parent's generation put down our music, styles, and life choices; I swore I would not do the same thing. For the most part, I feel I have succeeded. I may not like some of it, but I do not feel what I listened to and wore as a teen is any better than today's music and styles.

Today I learned that crusty old guys don't like their young guys looking anything less than completely macho.
