These are the closest things I have to a Strat.

...More Tele than Strat, but...
Do you notice any difference in tone with the short scale? I've been thinking of putting a 24.75" conversion neck on one of mine.

I really need to get better pictures. Better lighting. Better background.

I need to move.

Peavey Raptor Plus EXP. It’s dark blue.

Partscaster that I assembled. The body and neck came from Maverick here of the forum.
It’s dark green.

And last, the knock off SRV Strat. I feel kinda dirty about this one because I expected it to be super obvious that it’s knock off, but it’s a pretty decent player.

You definitely sacrifice some of the "snap" the longer scale (and higher string tension) give you, but it still sounds like a strat...I put .011s on it once and that made up for a lot of it, but I stick with .010s now and live with the lack of attack...

Where I notice it a lot more is on the Tele...the decreased attack removed a lot of "twang", and the Alnico2 pickups and roller wound GHS Nickel Rockers took out the rest...I don't mind because I was looking for the bridge tones Dan Steinhardt (That Pedal Show) gets from his Tele...

How do you like the Chapman?
Hated the JB jr it came with passionately.

Construction wise it's a fabulous guitar other than the defect it has that makes it a factory second (rip in the top).

Plays fantastic, and all Hipshot hardware is hard to not like. After switching to the Hot Rails in the bridge I really dig it.

I LOVES those Aztec gold Strats :thu:

It is an interesting guitar. Fender made these as an attempt to make a Mexico/USA hybrid model. The hardware is all US Custom Shop stuff, and very high quality. The pickups are Custom Shop Texas Specials. The guitar was made in Mexico, so presumably the body, neck, assembly, finish all took place there. I read on the net that the bodies were made in the US and sent to Mexico as the US hardware made it easier to do the initial work in the US factory with the routing and stuff...I have no idea if that is true or not. The guitar is alder, which is kind of what fender was using in the US stuff at the time. Finally, they slapped a decal under the finish on the back of the headstock that says "special edition". They made 250 of this model back in 2003. All I can say is that the thing is an amazing strat and the neck on it is absolutely amazing. It feels like the damn US Custom Shop made this thing. I guess the MIM factory spent some extra time on these. These were made for Fender Europe and never sold in the US.

Here is a link to another one for sale with some better pics. Mine is in brand new/mint shape.

Here be me strats.....

Garbage strat in flaking off green paint made from warmoth parts...some of which came from a trash pile,
Sometime, I want to make a garbage tele out of old parts and maybe a nice warmoth neck, that I can sticker up and thrash around with.
