He's a lanky, nerdy, awkward guy who spent thousands of hours shredding in his basement only to find himself on some of the biggest concert stages of their time. He's carved out a niche for himself. Everyone isn't going to like you. Do your thing, do it well, and fuck the haters. And that's exactly what he does. Lotta respect for Vai.

I love Vai and Satch.

To me, they are musicians like a classic painter. They just get music, and how to make it. You may not like it -- which is fine -- but man he's got it.

He's also struck me as a genuinely nice guy.
