After 28 years with Deep Purple (way longer than Richie Blackmore), Steve Morse has decided to step away from Deep Purple.

I've never had the chance to see either Deep Purple or Morse. Ritchie was one of my favorite guitarists for ages, definitely still is as far as rock players go. Morse is one of the best guitarists to pick up the instrument, really just a master musician that happened to use the guitar as is main tool to present his musical ideas.

I loved the idea of him joining Purple and loved the first few albums w/ the band. Haven't had a chance to really dive into everything, but I'd always hoped to see them a few times. The timing never worked out...

Can't argue with his decision and hope it provides the peace they need.
