Starlight Coke

I'm a bit late to the game on this but I grabbed one on a whim while at Walgreens this past weekend. I am interested in what you think it tastes like if you've had it because three of us at my house had three different thoughts on it.
I think it tastes like cherry cream soda. My son said cotton candy and my daughter said unicorn farts (she's 6, lol)

I heard a news piece about Starlight Coke before it came out. Something about ethyl formate (raspberries and rum have lots of ethyl formate) that exists in star forming clouds and also the taste of being out camping at night and looking up at the stars.

To me, Starlight Coke just tastes like a semi-flat vanilla coke. Certainly no raspberry or campfire smoke or s'mores or deet. The gas station near me is doing a buy one get one free though, so i've been buying a lot of the Starlight Coke Zero.

I think I speak for everybody when I say, please write them. If they respond
please post it here. Can't wait for their response to your disappointment about it not tasting like deet.

I just heard about the smores taste yesterday. I don't get that at all. My neighbors kid says it tastes exactly like smores but she may have heard/read that before trying it and we know how that can skew your interpretation.
There's a Soul Coughing song that says "You grab the ankles I'll grab the wrists" and I convinced my son it said "You grab the eggrolls I'll grab the whisk" and now he can't unhear it. Same thing.

I haven't had it but a co-worker who's super into mystery flavor stuff has and he said his guess was 'raspberry coke'

I almost never drink soda, but I want to get some of this because of this discussion

I've never tried it, but I'm putting my money on unicorn farts. (I'm 58)

@MonkeyZero …. You can tell your kids that “Unicorn Farts” is one of my favorite beers…

… and I have tried that Coke and it was kinda icky-sweet like cotton candy. “Unicorn Farts” is tart, refreshing, and how can you not love beer that has edible glitter in it. :helper:

@MonkeyZero @Tig ... It's probably bad form to quote yourself...

... but I was just thinking about the edible glitter part of that statement.

Some less scrupulous brewers would have named it "Stripper Pole"....

.... or they could have gotten Bloodhound Gang to cross promote it and call it "Stripper Tears" :embarrassed:

Wonder who the evil genius was in the band who decided to use the Casio "rhythm section"? :helper:

Oh and... Band Name:

I saw Bloodhound Gang back in their hayday at The Milkbar in Jacksonville. That show was nuts. I always forget about them until someone brings them back up. They were crazy.

The closest thing to them now is Here Come the Mummies... who I've seen 4 or 5 times.

Monday, Tuesday, hump day is half way
Stick it in the pig, pop it in the bank
Saturday is coming quicker than you think

Forty-eight to rendezvous
I'm gonna blow a wad on you
Oh, oh, oh

I'm coming in my pants, my shirt
It's my best suit baby
Gonna pick your flower
Gonna be there in an hour
Coming in my pants, shined shoes
In my neck tie honey
I'm so excited I hope that I don't come too soon.......

I can't move on, attention is long gone
Suit's all pressed, wallet's in shape
The only thing that's left is a little manscape

24 to rendezvous
I'm gonna blow a wad on you
Oh, oh, oh

I'm coming in my pants, my shirt

Well, it took until today for the stars to align and for me to finally see this in the cooler by the checkout at the grocery.

Since I couldn't remember what the flavor of Starlight Coke is supposed to remind me of, I really couldn't place the flavor. It definitely didn't make me think of s'mores or camping or anything like that. The smell is a like a cross between a cake-scented Yankee Candle and a mattress store. The taste is not horrible, but not good either. A bit bready in a way.

Fortunately, if you drink it with food, all those weird notes get drowned out. So if you're used to drinking soda with your meal and all you can get is this Starlight Coke, it's manageable.
