I have that Jazzmaster. I swapped out the stock pickups for Seymour Duncan Antiquities and it sounds as good as my MIJ J Mascis Jazzmaster.

don't care for the burst, but otherwise, that'd probably be right along the lines of what I would buy, if I were in the market for a Jazzmaster.

Cool! Good to know. While I've been GAS'ing for a double humbucker, I'm really a single coil pickup kinda' guy and the Jazzmaster would be a perfect addition.

The other single coil I'm considering is the G&L Tribute ASAT Special with the Jumbo MFD pickups.

I've played a few of the Vintage Modified Jazzmaster, and they didn't do much for me. I didn't like the feel, and I didn't like the way they sounded. I'd prefer the J Mascis over them.

I tried one of those when the first came out and didn't care for it. Tried the Mascis, very nice for the price. Tried an old beat up made USA, thats the ticket as far as I'm concerned- way better guitar. Thats the one I would have bought, but I decided I'd rather have a Gretsch instead.

It's not really a Jazzmaster though, is it? The Mascis one looks pretty cool, though the distance between the bridge and trem looks wrong...
