Squier Classic Vibe Teles

Squier's always made some outstanding instruments. Will Sargeant of Echo and the Bunnymen played a Squier Tele for some time in the 80's, when they were made in Japan.

The only Squier I currently own (I have owned several others) is an '87 MIJ Precision bass. Bought c. 1990 for a Benjamin even, with a crappy chipboard case. I bought it from a former drummer in my first band, who was also in the original quartet lineup of Neurosis (out in Cali). Years and years later, I bought a beater hardshell case (previously owned by someone in Against Me!-- I live in Gainesville, their home base for awhile, though Laura Jane Grace now lives in Chi) for it. It's a great bass.

Laura moved to Chicago? When I lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, she lived right behind my office in St Augustine.

Yeah, she's been there for a couple years at least. She recently posted a t-shirt of hers on her Instagram that is just a black shirt with white cap letters saying "I HATE CHICAGO," haha.

Ridiculous but true fact:

Against Me! opened for my band, Crash Pad, at the Civic Media Center in Gainesville, back in 2000. They were an acoustic duo at the time.

I bet she does hate Chicago this time of year

The current crop of VM and CV guitars and basses are often excellent, and IMO preferable to standard MIM stuff, and occasionally preferable to 'nicer' FMIC guitars.

Like anything else that is mass-produced, you need to fish around for a 'better' rather than 'worse' one, but that's hardly unusual at any price point (Gibson, cough) with guitars.
I passed over a couple before picking the one I have pic'd above.
