A friend of mine just recently found out about the last verse ("Dragons live forever, but not so little boys") and was mind-blown/heart-broken.

when i was a kid i was told that the little boy grew up and wasn't a little boy anymore.
still sad.

That's what I remember from 5th grade - the boy grew-up and went on to his adult life and Puff wallowed in loneliness.
Depressing indeed.

Depressing indeed.

Puff is the boy's childhood imagination which he abandoned in adulthood. It's a sad parable about all of us.
