Some new additions to try...

Starve your Fear, Feed your Dream!
I have a sold a number of pieces of gear that I no longer use and with the returns, I slowly began updating certain items. With that, here are my latest aquisitions to play with.

1) Nocturne Jr. Barnyard - I was looking for something to give that old Swingin' Texas Blues and Swing style sound similar to Hollywood Fats. My buddy Brophy Dale turned me onto this pedal, (well he has the El Pescadero - has Jr + Reverb) and after playing through his rig a few times gets that sound that I have seeked.

The JR BARNYARD® - Pre-War Hot Preamp ( 1930's-40s octal tube amp character pedal). Inspired by my Moonshine'39 amp a repro of the 1939 Gibson EH-150 /185 pre war tweed amp and its octal tubes. I've created a textured hot club style preamp to garner those early Charlie Christian flutey reedy amp tones to Texas Playboys Junior Barnard and Eldon Shamblin dirty octal tube swingin texas blues.

2) JHS Tidewater - I already own one and this is my second. I really wanted a Nocturne Nailhead but will need to wait for used one to pop up. The Nailhead like the Tidewater is a tremolo effect but when you max the mix and turn the speed off, it becomes a boost pedal. The newer Nailheads have a switch to automatically do that so you can save your settings. Now thanks once again to Brophy, the boost switch is usually on. Hopefully one day I can get a Nailhead to replace the Tidewater and then flip it.

3) last of all is the Janice. I believe that it was @Aahzz who has one and I wondered about it. I found that Janice can produce sounds similar to the Vemuram Jan-Ray and/or a Timmy. According to what I read about the Janice, Paul Cochrane (Tim/Timmy) has done some mods to the Janice.

As usual, all my pedals were bought used (except Janice, but it was really cheap). Since I bought used, no real loss if I need to flip. Now time to experiment.

I had the Jr Barnyard, a Dynobrain, and a Mystery Brain. Nocturne makes great pedals, but I sold them all off back during Covid after seeing his personal FB posts and discovering he was not the kind of human I wanted to financially support or promote. They were easy to unload at not much of a loss on the Grestch forum because he's like a God over there.
I'm glad you didn't buy a new one from him.
The Jr Barnyard is indeed unique but I only used it playing swing and jump blues with flatwounds, so hardly ever. The Mystery Brain was a very good delay but not irreplaceable, and I really didn't need its extra boost function or an extra Brain preamp.
The only one I really miss is the Dynobrain. I've been on a quest for an always on "more" pedal that does what it does ever since to no avail.
I wish I had just painted it flat black and told people it was a mystery pedal I found at Goodwill.
Lately I admit to watching Reverb closely for a used one.

I also own and Atomic Brain which I love. Gonna couple it with the Jr Barnyard. Almost got a hold of a used one locally but missed out on it. I would have made the drive to get that and the Fluid Drive. The guy still has the Fluid Drive but I really do not need another style overdrive.

Those look sweet! Nope, wasn't me that had a Janice, this is actually the first I heard of one. Since you mentioned Paul Cochrane, I did have a Zefram for a while...

I finally bit the bullet and scored a used Atomic Brain off Reverb for around $150 (which included a rip off $25 shipping charge). Arriving Monday.
Appears to be one of the newer versions. I really didnt need the Abby mode and extra bells and whistles but it's what finally showed up.
Maybe that'll come in handy anyway, it's supposed to make the circuit more compatible w/ master vol amps.

I think that you will really dig it!!! That sound is truly unmistakable especially if you like Brian Setzer's sound as well. But as they say, make it your own!!!

@Modern Saint

That JHS pedal in the middle must be for playing a very classy rendition of Crazy Train....

... because the cursive writing on it just says " i i i i i i i i i i i i i i i " :helper:

Great for using as a solo volume boost without owning a boost pedal. Just make sure the Speed is a 0
