My wife is the same way and so am I. Hugs are fine but In fact we both will take turns on the couch when the other is ill. It is probably the stress of having to go to the parents and them saying: "Where is my son-in-law?"....."Home Sick"......"Yeah right, he didn't want to come up to visit us!"
 
She might just be irritable because of something else going on. Staying home and resting while your sick is the best thing that you can do - both for yourself, and for everybody else.

I get grouchy when I'm sick. I don't really want sympathy, or nursing, or anything. I just want to be left the hell alone. I can get my own Gatorade and chicken soup. Just let me lay on the couch and watch 27 hours of TV in peace. The bathroom is not far away - I have everything I need.

I'd prefer a "anything I can do?" in a nice voice, and that'd be that. If my head hurts badly enough, her bringing me Aleve and water is certainly appreciated. The whole being annoyed thing, though, just pisses me off.
 
I'm not going to talk shit about your woman, but if mine gave me that kind of tude for being sick, I'd tell her to sleep on the fucking couch every night...

I'm glad her attitude is better now. If it was mostly based on her not wanting to get sick, that is understandable. The cold method she appears to have used isn't so understandable, we are talkn' about wimmerns.

My second wife is a nurse. My first wife is a bitch. I'm a happy man these days!
We take great care of each other when one of us is sick, yet wash hands frequently.
