So the important part is that no one was hurt, but I'm still upset

And, while it sucks - I have to keep perspective. There are far worse things that could effect my kids, and if this is the worst I get than I thank all the powers that be.

Yeah the meds are sometimes worse than the seizures. But you're absolutely right, it could be a lot worse, and at least it isnt something that's dangerous as long as people around know how to handle them. That's a great perspective.

I'm glad everyone is OK.

Glad everybody is okay.

What kind of car is it?

Chances are that if he hit you on the passenger side, and the driver's side door won't open, it's jacked up enough to be totalled. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wow Aahzz. Glad everyone is ok. And once again, people suck. I hate when some jackass feels a need to ride down the berm.

What sucks more is that since 'you were both at fault', you can probably expect your insurance premium to go up.

It's an 07 Kia balsa wood and spit. Nice little car - if it's totaled, I may even buy another.

The raising of the premium, along with the $500 deductible, is the part that ticks me off. I think my insurance company has a first accident forgiveness, though - my driving record is super clean, It's been about 13-14 years since my last accident....

Being a Kia, I'd say it's totalled. Now if it were a car with $40k replacement value, you may be in trouble.

Good thing with the accident forgiveness.

Wow!

I am so glad everyone is ok. But the 'no fault' stuff is totally bogus. Driving on the shoulder is a major no-no. I hope the car stuff works out to your benefit. It would be nice to see something positive out of this...

Prayer and mojo out to the aahzz family...

Oh wow dude, im so glad you and the family are ok. I hope things do work out with the car.

Glad your all OK - just remember that hindsight is always 20/20 so don't get all pissed over the lack of pictures. The important thing is you and your family are good.

Good luck with the insurance.

As the others have said, glad to hear everyone seems to be OK.

It really blows that no one stuck around to be a witness for you. If he hit you that hard, you'd think someone would have the decency to at least make sure you were alright.

Here's to hoping all goes well with the insurance.

2 Golden rules.

Never buy band equipment with your own money.
(learned this one from reading the boards.)

ALWAYS get checked out at the hospital.
(learned this one from a car accident I ended up getting screwed on.)

So the body shop just called - initial estimate is $5500, including straightening the frame, so I doubt it'll get totaled, dammit.

5500 won't total a Kia? messedup0

'course, when I think of Kia, I think of the crappy little Sephia I got as a rental when they first came out biggrin

Sorry man. You never know...they may still end up totalling it. It's not looking good, but you never know.

I just did a lookup on Kelly Blue Book, and while I don't know anything at all about the car other than it's a 2007 Kia balsa wood and spit, it looks like the retail value is probably close to $10k.

That car is never going to be the same, but dont those Kias come with like a million year warranty? Im thinking you could still be OK if that is the case.

I don't think they can force you to take a repair on a bent frame.

What is the book value on the thing ? usuually 60/40 is a good split for total loss.
