Slowing down MP3 without changing pitch

Some time ago I use to have a software application on the PC that allowed an MP3 to be slowed down, without changing pitch. It was great for learning licks and covers.

Now have a MAC and I can't remember the name of that application. Any ideas or thoughts on anything out on the market that might be able to change the speed and not pitch?

Thanks!

I used Audacity for a while, but now my DJ software allows me to change the tempo or pitch independently (for remixes) but it's also great when you want to change the pitch by a 1/2 step so you don't have to retune the guitar, or if I want to rehearse the vocals in a couple different keys.

You could try a demo copy of Serato (What I currently use) or Virtual DJ (what I used to use).

I pay very small but real amounts of money for Transcribe! which does this BUT ALSO shows the waveform, allows you to make loops, change speed independently of pitch, label sections, EQ to focus on parts, and probably some other things.

I guess everything can do it now, but this is aimed at the contemporary transcribing musician of today, and I like it.

You can use GarageBand to do this. It may not be as convenient as other applications but it can do the job.

I’ll look for the instructions online and edit my post with them later.
