Said goodbye to some old friends…

When it gets a bit warmer (and I'm not afraid of bringing guitars from home to the car to a shop) I think I'll plan a trip to Dave's in Madison and see what sort of trade value they'll give me for a Harmony, Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin II, and Ron Kirn "S" old-growth one-piece pine body...

Congratulations! I've always liked the ES-333. It has an actual back plate for access the electronics, so there's none of the mirror and camera fishing that goes with working on a regular 335.

New 333s had exposed pickups with black coils and I never thought that was a flattering look. The aged chrome covers get you closer to the look of a proper 335.

I'm curious what you thought of the '59 Dano. I keep thinking I'm going to pull the trigger one day.
I had that Dano since 1998 so I must have liked it. They are good at doing that “not a Gibson, not a Fender thing” with gorgeous clean tones for days. I used it for slide for many years too. Not because the action was too high to fret it properly but because it sounded damn good in open tunings witha little OD.

With about six hours of playing time on this guitar I have to say I love it. I’ve never owned a good hollowbody before, it’s a whole different ballgame.I’ve been impressed with pickups, thought they were aftermarket because this guitar ships without pickup covers. Nope, they are Gibson probably the 490/491(??) so they are staying.
