While I agree that signature models are by definition, unnecessary... It's a bass. It's a single pick up bass that does one thing and one thing only. It's not like some 3 pick up, 5 switch having locking tremolo wearing beasty guitar...

...I would have rather seen Fender make a sig Roger Waters bass based on the sunburst P-Bass he used in the late 60's early 70's (like in Live At Pompei)...naturally, it should come with flats...

I don't see why Roger Waters SHOULDN'T have a signature bass.

I mean, he was an influential bass player on rock music.
