Roasted maple vs. roasted flamed maple...

I remember them....budget Fender clones "built to order" from a wide selection of parts/colors/options. Was it any good? I always had my doubts.

Actually, not bad! The pickups were the Duncan Designed SC101 pickups, which are decent alnico 5s made overseas, the body was "kapere" (basically, Spanish cedar) which was light, resonant and smelled nice, and the electronics were decent and well-shielded. My main complaint was that the neck profile from front to back was a bit 'flat' (think Ibanez) for my preference. They basically went out of business because of the "dot-com bubble" recession of 2001.

Would CANUBIA WAX be a good sealer / treatment for a roasted maple neck?????

Wax doesn't permanently bond. Tung oil works but is very satin-y and thin, wears down to bare wood pretty quickly.

I like Tru-Oil which is a gunstock oil finish and can be built up to as thin or thick as you want, satin or gloss.

wax can then go over whichever oil finish and will ride over the smooth finish.

So, if one were to order the roasted flamed maple neck & fretboard, it would be best to get it with a satin finish for stability?

All I can say, is my Black Tele is about 2 and half years old. I had no finish done on the roasted maple neck and it has been my number 1 since I assembled it. After the initial setup, I haven't done any adjustments to it and it still plays great. I like the unfinished feel of the neck, which is why I went roasted in the first place, but if you are concerned about it's stability, then go for the finish you like. Warmoth still says finish not required on the roasted flame and roasted maple necks.

If it’s roasted there should be no issues with stability. The idea behind roasting is baking the moisture and sugars down to the level you want. Hopefully eliminate most issues with neck stability. The flame shouldn’t make any difference once it’s baked.
