Hot or Not: Reverb "Artist" shops

I've seen offerings from Rick Nielsen. Yesterday there was one from Nils Lofgen offering beat up pedals, etc. at (to me) insanely high prices. The latest one is Wilco: https://reverb.com/shop/wilco-loft-official-reverb-shop

I don't know what to think about these. I mean I'm not sure I really want to pay a 20% or more premium on gear just because it was owned by someone famous. Any other opinions?

What can I say? Bob Weir signs a guitar and gets $7000 for it; I sign one and folks want me to pay to get the marker removed. I don't know that I'd pay more becuase someone "famous" owned it, or signed it, but who knows what others might do.

I keep getting those emails too....thanks but no thanks. There is absolutely nobody that I feel is so significant that I'd pay the high prices for gear that I'd never use.

Those prices actually weren't that unreasonable and if I'd seen it sooner I might have snagged one of Tweedy's cheaper guitars just because :embarrassed:

Tweedy's prices are realistic. OTOH, Lofgren wants fuck you money for his beat up shit...

He wants $75 for this Boss tuner:

and the same for this DS-1

I thought $800 for a Squier Tele owned by Pat Sansone was a bit steep even for a MIJ.

I could see owning something of Tweedys.
