40cm? We get an inch or two and the place goes to shit.

Done my rota'd day in our school's hub. I'm exhausted. I may or may not be enjoying a refreshing lager beer as I type this. :embarrassed:

The 40cm is not that special here. It's mostly the combination of constant snow and a lot of wind, which makes the snow depth very unpredictable in certain places and makes it impossible to clean a lot of places properly.

I'd rather have snow than the black ice we have here at the moment. I nearly fell on my arse several times.

ouch! mojo!

It's the first time I've ever questioned my life choice of wearing Crocs  :embarrassed: fucking sore right enough and mad Wendy down the road, who until this point I've managed to wide berth, seen it from her window and made a point of coming out to see if I was OK / give me her whole life story when I was out with Lola the following day. I've been told to expect a Christmas card next year

You really make your street sound like a cartoon place with people like badger and mad wendy :embarrassed:

I should have kept my mouth shut... it’s snowing

We've got a yellow warning for snow snd ice overnight. Just been out with Lola and it's already freezing.

Meant to go into work for an hour tomorrow but I'll be giving it a miss if the roads are bad.

It's a bit odd. I was at the Halbeath Park & Ride an there was heavy snow, and driving home was pretty bad until about halfway to Kirkcaldy. and then...nothing. Just rain

Got up real early and decided to try and get into work before the roads got busy.

Bad idea, they've not gritted the roads at all here, even the main ones. I dumped the car round the corner and I'm now back in my toasty bed.

Cars getting stuck all up and down the next road over. Some poor kid who looked about 19 or 20 had put his car right through a wall.

It finally stopped snowing and the skies are now a lovely clear blue.

The massive downside of said clear blue lovely skies is -15°C and dropping :embarrassed:

Just cold wet rain here in the South West of the UK so far. There's been the occasional snow flurry over the last few days but if you looked the wrong way you'll have missed it. Stay warm and look out for the white walkers all of you in the more Northern climes.

This is rather pertinent.

I managed to travel a few hundred yards before ditching the plan to go into work this morning.

I'd say we had an inch of snow if that. The police were redirecting traffic from the Main Street because several cars had gone through the cross and smashed right into a barrier.

The hill on the way back up to mine (not THAT steep) was like an ice rink because of people caning it in 1st or 2nd gear and then spinning out. I just parked up at some flats and walked home but there was half a dozen cars abandoned on the road (this is like 7:30am.

A van blocking the road that's trying to get turned and away but can't because some doofus is behind it and refusing to reverse or try and turn his car. I even pointed out to them that going down the hill was fine, all he had to do was turn or even have us help spin him round and he'd be able to get on his way or head home and the van could get moving. Nope.

Old Stewart my drinking buddy decided it would be a grand idea to go to Morrisons. He managed to get all the way home (up a really steep hill) before spinning out at the top of our street. By time I got out to help him someone else had got him going.

Popped out to Aldi and a Royal Mail van was slowly heading towards the garages across from me. I stopped and told him not to go down there as it's always like an ice rink and he'll not get back up. I come back up from the shops and guess who's stuck spinning around outside the garages.

Had I managed to get out of the scheme I'd have got stuck about a mile or two away on the main road where there was apparently loads of crashes and stuck cars plus the police weren't letting anyone down the hill again so I'd probably have had to abandon my car there and walk him.

We're shit at snow. Really shit.

Fixed it for Britishness
I would love to tell you "it's not that bad", but considering the UK's track record in the last decade, I just can't really think of anything :embarrassed:

But hey, at least you can take comfort in the fact that Rutte is yet again part of a fallen government. Which makes a lovely 5 out of 6, and somehow is still doing well in the polls. So hey-ho, both your old and new country seem to appreciate fuckups :embarrassed: Perhaps you should consider a career as "sleazy shitbag that leaves a wake of fucking disasters", as it seems quite a hot career path at the moment.
