Morning all

I lived with three other students whilst at Uni. All of them female, in one house. I can tell you what you maybe already know. Women can be pigs. Grotty bastards.

Still, good times.

Morning, folks.

You wouldn't believe how much shite we're going through with this visa thing. And we haven't even applied yet. I realise that seems to not make sense.

As I think I've mentioned before, we need to supply a bank statement from the Bank of Scotland that shows how much savings we have. The statement must be less than 28 days old. Our savings account uses a passbook, which I've sent to my mate in Edinburgh. Now it looks like the account is only ever updated at the end of the month, but the most recent date stamped on it is the date of the most recent transaction, which is rental income that comes in... right at the start of the month. So by the time the passbook can be updated, it's pretty much 28 days old. Certainly close enough that there's no way to post the passbook back to us in Taiwan in time.

It's doing my head in.

Bollox!

Morning all.

@irishstu - sounds like a royal pain in the arse. Only suggestion is whether you can either move the date the rental income hits your bank account so it's nearer to the account update date, or ask the bank to prepare a special statement on a stated date. Good luck with it.

Thanks, Gorgon90,

We actually asked the bank for a statement on 28th March and it still hasn't arrived. Since this is some sort of super-savings savings account that only uses a passbook, asking for a statement is a really big deal supposedly. Moving the rent date is a good idea, but it's irrelevant now. I can easily move money in or out, but no matter what I do it won't show till the next "refresh" at the end of May (unless I'm wrong about how often the account is updated--fingers crossed on that). Honestly, if I could rewind, I would've just made sure the rent money went into a much more accessible account rather then the super-savings saving one. I'd no idea it would be this difficult just to get a bank statement. It's 2015, FFS.

Anyway, hopefully my mate can get SOME sort of current time stamp on the passbook when he updates it. If he can do that, then we're sorted.

Damn stu, hope after all this bullshit some stuff finally starts going smooth with that application...

I'm having 'one of those days' today... Tried to order a present for my dad online, got stuck on payment every time I tried  went for groceries, had my card declined at an ATM machine for no reason  Then I wanted to book a washing machine in the communal laundry room, it's closed for maintenance  Put some fresh strings on my guitar, now there's a weird buzzing sound caused by my B string buzzing against the first few frets near the bridge, it cut into the bridge too much and I'll probably need a new bridge

Morning all

I can't vote. Ive been living abroad for more than 15 years or something which means I can't vote in the UK election. I also can't vote in Germany so although Im a member of an EU country I can vote in neither.

What a load of bollocks.

I can't vote because I can't get back into the UK in time (I'd hoped to already be there)!

In happier news, my mate managed to update our bank book and it's right up to the day too. It's getting posted back to us today. :thu:

Oh well. I cant say im surprised. Clearly a lot of people secretly like Cameron.

I predict that whatshisface, the other Milliband, the one that doesnt look like hes run into the back of a bus, will be prime minister in 4 or 5 years time.
