Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Damn that sucks.

I gave myself the day off, GF just left for three weeks and it's easter and all that. I'll be working on a web design project tomorrow. Client is very nice, money is good, but web design is fucking boring :embarrassed:

But at least I can drink beer with it :embarrassed:

Of course I'd never dream of cracking open a cool bottle of Stella whilst hitting the final furlong of todays papers before heading to the pub for the Chelsea game  :embarrassed:

It's scorching up here and I'm still stuck in marking :(

Looked the hammock out and everything :embarrassed:

hi guise

Went to Game Masters exhibition on saturday, which was very interesting, apart from the fact that it was mobbed with parents with their kids hogging all the games, so hardly been able to play any games. Managed to indulge in a little bit of Sonic though. Went for an awesome Italian meal afterwards.

Spent Easter sunday stuffing my face :embarrassed:

working today :(

I got accepted in the Masters programme I applied for  Happy as fuck right now, I was really stressing out waiting for the result the last couple of days, glad that whole period of interviews and assignments is finally over and with good result.

Now back to work, got 2 websites and some interface design to finish :embarrassed:

A Masters? Now why would you go and do something like that to yourself? :idk;

On the upside, I've got just about everything in place for my hot tub build and providing my arm doesn't fall off, I'll finish my marking today :thu:

Congrats, CoF.

We're primed and ready to apply for our UK visa as soon as our bank account statement arrives from the UK.

Just found out the UKBA increased the visa fees yesterday. Was £885; now it's £1456. It would be fair to say that I'm not in the best of moods today.

I've absolutely no doubt that that's the primary reason. They made promises to reduce immigration that there was no way they could keep, so they're doing everything in their power to deter people from coming. Since they can't really stop anyone from Europe, they're going after non-Euros big time.

Do you not have a British passport?

I do, and so do our kids, but my wife is from outside of Europe. Actually, if I didn't have a British passport, this would be a piece of piss (I also have an Irish passport, so could come in as a Euro instead of a Brit and Euros can bring in non-Euro spouses no probs).

So why don't you go through Ireland? Or are immigration laws just as insane there?

WTF? That's mental.

Irish rules are pretty fair. We would still have to enter the UK afterwards, though, and the UK rules supersede the Euro rules. If we wanted to LIVE in Ireland, then it would be no bother, but we want to live in Edinburgh, since we have property and friends there. There's a workaround where you stay in Ireland long enough to establish residency (like six months), then move to the UK as a European resident (Google "the Surrinder Singh route"), but it's really complicated doing that when you have kids and have to think about their education.

The current govt has really, really fucked over Brits marrying non-Euros and I'll never forgive them for it. Fuck them in their fucking faces.

Damn, that's just insane... Lots of mojo for all the bullshit you have to go through.

So wait, what job and whose woman are you going to steal when you reach this land of milk and honey (and bollocks)?
