Practice Diary.

Since I feel the need to woodshed hard while I'm working up to recording I figured I would keep a binder and keep track of what I'm working on. Even if it just becomes a "lick library" I think it'll be useful...and if I do the kickstarter thing I might make the diary a prize for it....:)

Sounds like a good plan, Mark. In fact that is something we should all do ...keep a 'catalog' of different techniques, riffs and licks that you like to play and can then go back and 'relearn' things that may been forgotten over time.

I got the idea from Carl Verheyen...he's always talked about these diaries that he keeps and every once in a while he goes back to an old one. I just figured it would keep me focused a bit better while I woodshed and possibly be a cool giveaway at the end of it.

well fine then.

so you're gonna put out an album and a new book? i support this initiative.

Well, I'm working on writing an album right now..probably record in 3-4 months but this book is really about me focusing my practice time and then using it as a prize for the kickstarter fundraiser. It's handwritten on tab paper, not a publishable method book at all. It should be full of cool licks and practice ideas though.

maybe. One major project at a time though. I have six tunes written completely already. At the rate I'm going I'm going to try and have 15-20 by the end of August and a couple of gigs past the August 25th Premier Music show. After that point I'l start scheduling studio time and get the kickstarter going.

That's bold statement...

I like the decor on that book!

I thought about doing that at one time but I am so sparstic and unorganized in what I play, I haven't done it. I have put books together of tunes I do in different genres so I am not a complete basket case.

Some pages are full of organized exercises, some are just licks and others just have a few words about what I worked on. Not too organized but at least its there.

At least you are organized. I have working on sequences of 3 and 4 (sometimes 5) for years just trying to get it to be second nature. That along with Pentatonic intervals and many other things I like to mess with that I created. If I organized, I wouldn't practice it  probably because I would more time writing it down rather than playing.

So I havent been doing this daily but it's got a ton of stuff in it already. Some hand written:

And lots of stuff done on the computer

I figure the more I do or this electronically the higher the possibility I'll have some sort of "book" to write later.
